Description Hello folks. For those who are my friends/watchers on this site, I'm back!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First of all, I'll talk about the above piece then I'll explain my long absence from this site. The render depicts a scene in which desert bandits are awaiting an enemy. They have quite the vehicle at their disposal, a truck made out of old bus and mining truck parts using a commercial diesel engine. The chopper is built from and old custom chopper but with some additional parts attached. They are in the Bonneville Salt Flats on a hot summer day.
This piece is a milestone for me because it is my first fully completed digital artwork. Usually I would start with a pencil sketch, scan that in, and then color it digitally. I used standard brushes to do all of the coloring and detailing, along with the selection tool. This render was also something that happened at random. I wanted to try my hand at a concept render that focuses on a subject matter which lacks seriousness and is all about some wild, crazy, or strange fun. It really was fun working on this, except for the quirks associated with the program I used. The render was done completely in Adobe Photoshop CS6.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Concerning my long absence, I'll post a journal entry right here just because I am a little lazy and sick at the moment... I've been spending a lot more time than usual working on my truck design project (yes, it's still ongoing, for those who remember). I won't show anything related to this project until it is absolutely finished. I don't know when it will be, by the way. I've also been helping out at the family workplace much more than usual, too, especially due to a remodeling project the property owners were doing during the summer of 2013. The plaza looks great now, and no longer like a travel back to the 1980's! But, most exciting of all, I have been getting busier with another job with a friend who's down in San Jose. The job involves custom motorcycles for some big clients, and I am the designer who works on the initial designs and ideas. my friend runs the business with many other friends an connections, and we are planning on finishing up a motorcycle very soon. For those who follow the auto or motorcycle scene, you may come across the bike on the internet, I'm thinking... I can't go into any specifics about that too much, but when the bikes are released one by one, I'll have the go-ahead to upload my work for the bikes. The year 2014 may just be the start of a long career in art and design for real, I'm hoping with all my heart!

Thank you very much! The new job is going to be interesting, not exactly what I was hoping to get into, but I'm making great uses of my art and design skills, and it's still automotive related so it'll be interesting where it's going to lead.

I bet everyone who goes to Moab envisions themselves looking like that as they roll onto the scene.

Haha, I agree. I wouldn't mind just going crazy with a car in an open area like that, see how fast I could go. Thanks for faving, too!

Thank you! It was fun to draw. I'll make sure to upload the stuff from my job as soon as I get permission (might be a while). The first few sketches I ever did for the motorcycle designs are not too neat, mainly because my friend/boss wanted a loose sketch to start things off, but I'm doing more higher quality template renders that may be available as prints once the motorcycles are built and shown.

Concerning the stars, I'm glad you brought it up, because I discovered a little problem I'll need to be aware of in the future. I'm used to detailed artwork on paper. In Photoshop, due to the way digital renderings work, I can add so much more detail (ten-fold or even more) that i end up forgetting about certain things and even ignoring things here and there as I finish it up. I remember thinking the desert sun would warrant a large amount of shine on the exhaust pipes, but looking at it now, it looks quite bad, haha. Also, the chopper girl's legs are unusually long, too. I think that it's simply the larger amount of details to cover that I'm not used to. I'll be keeping it in mind for future renders! Of course, the good thing is that it is easy to fix mistakes like these thanks to the layer feature.

well I just saw your work, nice one

yes, youΒ΄re right
itΒ΄s highly difficult to see the point where itΒ΄s done.
I think personal projects are always the ones where you keep working and working
just to improve your skills, which is good, so I think you did exactly the right thing

keep it up, all the best to you
