i know i a wee bit late on the comments but that is beautiful!! iv just started making things out of perler/hama beads.
if you could make it transform, you would be a god!!

One thing I've learned from later projects that do transform (which means disassemble and reassemble) is that the process does put a lot of wear on the bonds between the beads. Both the Tigerzord and Optimus have needed to be repaired since being posted.
Here's a tip that applies to all of the "cubee" projects, based on something I discovered by accident: the "Melty Bead" brand available at Wal-Mart doesn't quite melt as well as actual Perler Beads (go figure). To leave an open space (such as where the arms connect to the body), I put a Melty Bead in that spot, then pop it out after ironing. The end result of this is visible on Optimus Prime in truck mode. If you just leave an open space on the pegboard, the adjacent beads expand into the opening, making it much more difficult to insert the connecting bead from another piece.

wow thank you for sharing your expertise, iv really only started making perler things and all have so far been 2d, id like to try making something 3d soon. unfortunately wall mart is not in Ireland yet but you make a good point about leaving an open space. thank you!
