Personality:
Gossamer is an ambiverted pony who loves the company of others. While she can be secretive and timid at first, Gossamer is vocal about the fact that admires the unity between creatures in Terra Magus. She feels the same way towards bugs, too. Especially in spiders: her area of expertise. Gossamer seems to always be rambling about spiders and how to properly caretake for them. While she does understand the fears behind her favorite critter, she will always side eye those who speak of them / behave towards them with malice. Mayhaps she's biased towards those who relate to her better.
History:
- Grew up with both of her parents. Her childhood was very comfortable and happy.
- Had a huge fear of spiders. However, she could never bring herself to squish them, so she usually just gave them a snack and hoped they left her alone.
- One morning, she discovered a sac of eggs that were about to be eaten. Without thinking (nor knowing they belonged to spiders), she immediately went to stave off the predator trying to eat them, and moved them to a safer spot. She would visit daily to make sure they were safe until, much to her horror, she found what felt like millions of spiders pouring out of the sac. She was even more horrified when she found her cutie mark now on her flank!
- Throughout her childhood, she eventually warmed up to the bugs. The event that lead to her gaining her cutie mark was kind of like 'exposure therapy' to her, in a weird sort of sense. She would make herself interact with spiders a lot more, slowly going from watching them to letting them crawl on her hooves.
- As a teenager, she discovered a new interest in genetics, and she wanted to play with them herself. Why not start with spiders? She began breeding spiders together, keeping a keen eye on what types of markings they developed.
- Now, she lives in the Tropics. She has a home and a separate attic-turned-lab for her to experiment in. She lives with Cabochon, who often travels for work.
Cutie Mark and/or Special Talent: A spider's silhouette with a flower on its back. It represents her affinity for breeding and taming spiders.
Trivia:
• Makes flower accessories as a hobby. She is especially skilled at flower necklaces.
• Gossamer claims that if she were forced to choose a pet that wasn't a bug, she would probably own a cat.
• She doesn't really consider herself a geneticist. If asked, she just says that she happens to have a special interest.
