Sensual and elegant

Good God, I have a corrupted mind. It's the fault of my English teacher and all her comments on phallic symbolism.
As far as the flow of the sculpture goes, I think it's very smooth. Even the sharp edges protruding from the hollowed out parts (uh, I mean the ribbon-like part that goes around the hole) seems to be smooth. Nicely done.

Now tell me, 16 inches is about 40cm? That's quite a solid size, I'd say. Must be heavy

Yes, about 40cm. It weighs about 30 lbs. Sturdy! And yes, there is a lot of...innuendo in this, and a lot of my works.

Oh wow, that stone is just gorgeous... The colours....

The shape, I see it being both feminine and masculine, I think it could be either... The subtle curves could denote either sex.

Oh man, I'm just nuts about those colours... Your work is just wonderful. Thanks for sharing it with us!

it's my pleasure to share. I get great feedback from my peers here.
I too like the androgyny of the piece, it was somewhat intentional.

That's what I love about this place too. I get regular commenters, and I get people that rarely comment... I enjoy both veiwpoints, each of them helps me in some way... It's a great community.

A never ending pathway, around these edges and ridges. The egglike form is interesting, and very important, I think, to the message, like the journey from birth, and on and on.

Love the colors in this stone! Great lines in the form as well!

Question: I looked on your website and was desirous of Leyla (that is a variant of my middle name)--I suppose she's sold since she has no pricetag?

sculptin In reply to MsJ777 [2005-01-24 18:23:22 +0000 UTC]

I was just about to post leyla as a deviation. wait 10 minutes and you'll seee her in ll her glory. And she IS for sale. My website is seriously outdated.

Okay...Yet ANOTHER bizarre coincidence...

*Flinches*--Dare I ask how much?

sculptin In reply to MsJ777 [2005-01-24 19:58:10 +0000 UTC]

hmmmm, about $500. Give or take. Pricing is hard to do with stone. I never count how many hours I put into a piece because I work on many at once.

Sigh...I wish I was able to afford her right now. Don't think she'd ship well anyway with what you've said of the delicacy of that particular stone. But I can DREAM, DAMMIT!!!!

And I thought it was meant to be....

Too bad I can't put ACTUAL pieces on my wishlist here, but it's
not like I have any sugardaddies or whatever who'd buy it for me anyway...

Hope for a boon for me, dear--I really mean it when I say I want her. The piece caught my eye before the name did--and then when I saw the name, it seemed like fate or something. We'll see.

Gotta run now for an appointment--I'll be back in an hour or so. Let me know what you think of my note...

I was looking at the other pieces next to it on the site in the $200 and $300 range and being hopeful--sorry. Plus, with the US dollar as crappy as it has been lately, Canadian dollars aren't as much of a bargain as they used to be...

Sigh....
