Description I spotted this raggy crow at the top of Mt Cootha. It was old, its feathers were sticking out at strange angles and it looked like it had lost a string of fights.

He had far more character than the other sleek birds that I saw that day.

I love how many crows there are in Brisbane, there must be a whole extended family at UQ, they are everywhere, they always make me smile

Wow! I love this shot! I've got a fascination with crows, and you've fascinated with your photography. Would you mind if I did a drawing based on your photo, and give you the credit?

That is amazing. I've seen crows with a few feathers missing, but nothing like this. To look like that and still be able to fly...

This is a really spectacular shot. I live in Colorado and I try the photograph the ravens, crows, jays and other corvids that live nearby all the time, but have yet to get a successful In-Flight shot.

The photo is also a great composition in black and white, which you don't see much in nature photography. The detail on the bright white eyes and the shape of the feet are particularly striking.

The way you cropped the wing does create interesting negative space on the right side, but I think that you could play around with the border and get something better. Since the wind with the gnarly feathers was what attracted you, why not try another version with the whole wing showing.

All in all, a great feat of photography.

where is Mt. Cootha? All the crows I ever see have black eyes and I'm wondering if this is a different species.

I do hope you don't mind but I used 'Crow' as a stencil for the back of my jacket, and used black and silver spray-cans to apply it. It looks great but I thought you deserved to know that an image of the the crow you photographed is on the back of a jacket in England. If anyone asks me about it I will credit Scarlet Arts. When I cross paths with someone who owns a decent digi-cam I will take a pic and send it to you.
I had a beautiful day today, walking through the park by the cemetary and feeding the crows and the ravens in return for the wisdom I was downloading from them. It was their idea, so I can take no credit at all, it all belongs to you and the crows!

Have you been able to get a picture of it yet? I love the idea, and I would LOVE to see it! Thanks for telling me about it
