Today I braved the cold of the outdoors in an attempt to capture the winter world at it's finest. As I drove out to one of my favorite photo spots, I had not one fresh idea to my name. Every time I looked through my frame, I would see something that I'd already seen a thousand times. But I pressed on. I wandered out onto the ice, hoping to get a clearer view of the frozen body of water and its surroundings.

Suddenly, I heard the ice crack beneath me. I tried to outrun the break, but to no avail. My leg slipped into the opening and began to feel numb instantly. I said to myself, "self, this may be the best photo opportunity of the day." I tried, but it didn't work for me. My pain just didn't photograph well.

Having just wasted a half an hour, I headed back to my car. I had parked it on a relatively steep incline next to my neighbor's house. I turned the key. With slight hesitation, my dear Pam Thunder began to purr. I put her in reverse and gently pressed down on the accelerator.

No luck.

I floored it. I began to fishtail backwards up the icy slope, swerving to avoid random obstacles, both natural and unnatural. From there, it was a quarter mile in reverse with a foggy rear window, but no other obstacles stood in my way.

I had made it home, but my accomplishments were limited to not getting Pam or myself seriously injured. Not a red letter day; not even a light grey letter day. So then I became a trendwhore. Finish the title, does she or doesn't she?
