Okay, I'm probably the ONLY person who sees this, But these poses remind me of the artwork that would appear when a character does a hyper combo or on the select screen in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2.

Great job on the action poses. Combining the block-jump with an expression of concern works nicely and explains what she's doing nicely. Then her turn at offense with great determination and strong body language is terrific.

When I look at these two poses. There is no clarity in them. You can look at reference photos like martial art photos or artwork from Frank Frazetta, frankfrazetta.org/images/frank⦠or even One Piece vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/o⦠vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/o⦠You can clearly see what they're doing and what they're thinking. It's like they're leaping off the page. When drawing a character, it's important to get into their heads to understand the motivation behind that pose. Also, study the line of action if you're not familiar with it. I don't know if you heard this old saying that "an animator is an actor with a pencil." This quote doesn't just apply to animators, it also applies to comic book artists, illustrators, and character designers. An artist can be an actor who tells a story through a character.
