Description Paula: I guess Aunt Julie's right. I do have a uncontrollable need to defy authority at every turn..........whatever *pulls hat down over eyes and goes to sleep*

It's hard introducing you guys to these characters, because I use sketch comics as a way to aquatint myself with the characters and how they act, but since I'm working on actual, official comic strips for this story, I don't want to ruin anything for you later (So I'm torn)

(Also, I am not  trying to say that genderfluid people are just being contrary. I'm saying Paula is a contrary person, and this is one of the things that will often trigger their gender to "flip". But I'm not a genderfluid person, so if I do get something really wrong, please (politely) let me know )

Because round soft curves are the very essence of cuteness (honestly I'm baffled when people say they can't make fat look cute)

I love Paula already, and they're actually helping me figure out what is going on with my gender (mostly I just say "nah fuck it" and don't think about it, but it'd be nice to be some day able to give it a name.)

Awwwwww, wow that's like...amazing (i never think of my art as being able to help people except by maybe making them laugh) I do hope you find a name that suits you (but if not, don't worry about it; feeling right is more important than the words)

I kind of know what you mean though. I don't really feel like my gender has ever shifted (though my gender expression certainly has over the years. I used to always dress like a boy and cut my hair short and was always kind of hoping to be mistaken for a boy even though I still felt like a girl. But now I often dress really femininely and have grown my hair out and am really proud of being a woman) But I've always identified as "female" and lately I've realized more and more that I don't really know why (aside from "that's what people told me I was") And it doesn't feel wrong. But I have no real reasons for feeling female and I think that's odd/interesting. It's just something I've been thinking about for the last year or so.

The more I read and learn about gender, the more I think everyone should think about their own (especially cis people, because we're not used to having to question our own genders) It's a good exercise in self-exploration no matter what you are.

Sorry I talked about myself so much

No no, it's really nice that you responded with such a long message

I really feel the "I identify with this gender because that's what people have told me to do"-feeling, that's mostly how I've felt for the last few years since I've started learning more about gender. I'm always a little afraid I'm just trying to be "a special snowflake" by trying to find my identity from the more-uncommon parts of the gender spectrum, but it doesn't really matter what others think as long as I feel comfortable with whatever I am ^^ And I sure know my gender expression has always leaned more towards the tomboyish side, and I am kind of irritated by the thought of wearing something very feminine myself, but it might always change. It's fun to experiment with different styles and see how I feel expressing myself in various styles.

Part of what I love about your comics is that it gives me another point of view for things like this, which helps me understand it better. It kind of feels like learning what different genders and orientations feel like, and not just reading the definition. And yes, your art also makes me laugh, thank you for that XD (I really love Simon and Vya, and I'm tempted to draw you fanart of St. Sebastian's crew~)

I think experimenting with how you express yourself is great! You only have one life, and it's dumb to not dress and act the way you want to just because someone else will think it's weird (obviously as long as it's not actively hurting anyone; i think we can all agree that saying "this is how i choose to express myself" is no excuse for wearing babyskins or something XD)

And don't worry about people seeing you as trying to be a "special snowflake" just because you identify as something different. Only you can know you.

Awwww, thank you so much, i don't even know what to say /)//u//(\ I'm always hoping I'm doing a good job on stuff showing variety in life experiences (i read a LOT about people because i'm basically a recluse), so it makes me so happy to hear that's coming through (and dude, DO IT!! I would totally die )

I love seeing Nellie interact Paula, she's a great character. Kinda makes me wonder how she would interact with the other characters...
