Description     Chaz woke up on the floor in his room. His hear hurt bad, made worse by heavy knocking on the door before someone came in. "Seems the Guard's here for ya boy. Something about a break-in?" Max has a half angry half confused tone to his voice. Max was a very proud person so being told Chaz had something to do with a break-in was not something he was going to accept, Chaz was raised better than that, but being a retired member of the guard, especially a Peace Keeper officer, Max wouldn't get in the way of their investigations. Chaz got up rubbing his head and Max gave him questioning look, but he just walked past his dad into the livingroom where two of the Officers were waiting.

"Chaz Mankato? Can you please come with us? You have been linked to a breakin in town." One of the Officers stated extending his hand which Chaz refused to shake.

"Can't we just do it here? I don't feel too good."

"Something happen to your head?" The other officer was looking threw his notes with a rather annoyed look. Seems that's one contradiction.

"Yea. I got hit in the head by some guy. I just think I'm lucky I'm so hard headed or else that may have caused some damage." Chaz heard his mom snicker around the corner. Chaz knows his family well. Max was standing in the corner with his arms crossed, judging everything that was happening in front of him, Jess was trying to spy and if Bloom wasn't at school she would be too, Liana was doing her normal activities, keeping note so she could update her profile on Chaz if he gets taken in, Gear was watching just as carefully as his master was, and Buddy ran and tackled Chaz completely oblivious to the situation. It was a good thing Buddy was extra hyper today.

"May we ask why you are not in a hospital? Or why your dad seems completely oblivious to what happened last night?" The first officer was slightly shorter than Chaz and was trying to appear friendly while the other one listened carefully with his pen out. This was going to be way easier than he thought. Maybe if one was a Shaman or at least a strong enough earth user he may have gotten caught, but the one close to Chaz had a metal bracelet on the arm he extended to Chaz. Metal users like the officer and Max always had metal on their bodies, especially on their arms due to how little there is in nature. That's also why the officer was close so he could quickly cuff Chaz if he needed. Max used that trick on Chaz a few times. Part of the reason why Chaz covered his entire forearm with stone instead of just his fist when he fights. The other officer  accidentally let a few seeds fall out of his pocket. Usually plant users were fine, especially in a place like Midlands which is mostly grass fields, but unless they had a lot of house plants the inside of someone's home was a weak spot for them, that's why they always tend to carry a few extra seeds. Bloom always had flower seeds. They were like accessories to her so Chaz knew how fast a plant user can grow a full sized plant. The seeds the officer had were probably vines. They must have been scared of having to deal with the Mankatos, but if Chaz's plan they should be leaving safely.

"I train with my dad. He's hit me in the head a few times, so I kinda thought I could just walk it off you know? But as soon as I got home I passed out."

"Are you sure you want to be questioned here? Your family may end up hearing things they don't want to hear."

"Chaz laughed at that comment, "If you take me away and something happens my dad would kill me anyway. I plan on going right back to sleep after this is over so come on, lets get it over with." Chaz felt the serious vibe from the officers and his dad. To them it was no laughing matter, but to Chaz this was fun. Chaz was waiting to hear what they had to say, and by laughing and taking this lightly like he does almost everything his family wouldn't notice something strange and the officers would figure he had nothing to hide, Chaz had a very inappropriate sense of humor and it would help him threw this. Chaz sat down before he officer even said to. His head still hurt like crazy. The officer that was near Chaz sat in Max's favorite chair, Chaz could only imagine the face Max had to have been making at that officer right now.

"So. Mr. Mankato, where were you last night at around 1:30 AM?"

"Just call me Chaz thank you. I hear to many people call my dad Mr. Mankato, it's pretty creepy. I don't have much of a sense of time, but I'll assume it's when I ran into that man? That is why you are here right?"

The officer already looked rather annoyed. but stayed professional, "Yesterday there was a break-in at 5436 Starhaven. A couple was found in the home knocked out but otherwise fine, and a man was found bound to the floor with Stones piercing threw the floor with his right arm encased in stone holding together a horribly broken arm."

"Yes, then we are on the same page. I think that was the guy that his me in the head. Can't tell you where it was, but I know I saw a knocked out couple and attacked him." Chaz felt the stares on him. He was thinking maybe he should take this more seriously, but he was telling the truth up to that point.

"Ok Chaz. Why were you at the house that late at night?"

Chaz pat his leg and buddy jumped in his lap and tried licking him in the face, "My dog ran out and I followed him to try and bring him back home. He's been getting restless lately and has been running out. When I stopped at a house he jumped into some guy tried electrocuting me in the back. When he found out I'm an earth user he hit me in the head with something instead. Not too happy about it, but it was hard enough to disorient me quite a bit, I almost blacked out there."

The officers looked skeptical as the Plant user kept writing and the Metal user kept questioning, "So you were lead to the crime scene by your dog and hit in the head. Then what happened?"

"I was dragged in the house. Not entirely sure how he did it. He must be rather strong. haha, but yea, after I was in the house Buddy here ended up running back. The man tried electrocuting my dog, so I tackled him and punched him. He tried guarding, but I guess I hit him a bit too hard." Buddy started barking as if he was agreeing with the story. He jumped off Chaz's lap and ran circles around the living room before Max grabbed his collar and he started whimpering. Buddy didn't seem to like Max much.

"We were told you were not hit and that you dragged the theif in the house where you intentionally broke his arm."

This was too easy. Chaz got serious. He erased his joking nature and looked extremely irritated, "You were told? By who!? If someone saw me getting hit and dragged why weren't you guys there last night? And don't tell me the thief told you that.

The officer instantly recognized that last comment as a mistake. Chaz was wondering how long he had been working. "Mr. Mankato, we have a charge against you for aggravated assault and we have to investigate it"

Chaz stood up. I think this was the first time the officer noticed how big Chaz was because he gave a weird face, "Aggravated assault? It was self defense! Or what? I should have let him just kill my dog, and who knows what would have happened to me and that couple, you guys seemed to have been taking the night off!"

"Mr. Mankato please calm down so we can get to the bottom of this. You said he tried electrocuting your dog, but inside the house the only spirit energy we found was yours."

Of course, Spirit energy. Every time someone uses their element the person left their spirit energy there. That's how they were able to track Chaz, they probably have someone trained to detect the energy. Was a good note to remember later. "That's because I tackled him before he was able to do it. My uncle and my cousin are both lightning users. I know how they work. Most lightning users point with their fingers to direct it, I just need to hit the ground, so as soon as he tried pointing at my dog I tackled him and encased my fist in stone from instinct. I didn't mean to hurt him but I'm not going to let him hurt people just because it's against the law for me to hurt people. Or is this another case of because I'm not as hurt as him I'm the bad guy?"

The room started rumbling and a faint blue glow started appearing around Chaz. Must have been believable because suddenly silver sand surrounded Chaz and forced him back into his chair, "Cool it boy." Max was now standing behind Chaz, his metal sand flowing from his vest yet he looked about as mad as Chaz acted, maybe madder, "Get to the point. Why does my boy have a charge against him if he was trying to defend strangers and his family? My son was suspended from school for trying to protect himself, I will not stand for professionals doin the same thing when he was not only defendin himself, but doin the right thing like I taught him." Max was composed. No sign of attacking the officers or anything, yet his presence was a lot scarier than Chaz's was. This was when Max noticed the bump on Chaz's head. No way he was going to believe the words of a thief over flesh and blood.

The Metal using officer was kind of shaken. After all, as a metal user he must have been intimidated by Max using something like Metal sand as usually Metal needed to be touched directly to be used, it was considered one of the most inconvenient elements, but Max pretty much mastered using it. At this point the Plant user spoke up, "The reason your son has a charge is because the thief was scared. He said your son punched him in the face and knocked him down. While trying to get away he was dragged, taunted, bound to an earthen wall, and had his arm broken intently in order to 'teach him a lesson' saying things like if I just called the guard on you you will be back stealing. The most confusing thing about the story is the person that attacked him introduced himself as Jax the Hunter."

No one knows about Jax. Chaz rarely lets people see his sketchbook, and even if they do see no one knows Jax's name. Jax was invisible to normal people, just like he should be, "What? Really? Jax the Hunter? Do I look like a damn superhero to you? Yes, I attacked him, I broke his arm, I admit it, but it was to make sure my dog is safe. I have no idea who Jax the Hunter is and I wasn't trying to teach anyone a lesson, I don't even like leaving home often."

Finally was what Chaz was really waiting for. Jess appeared from behind the corner with the fakest smile she could put on. Her hair and eyes were already glowing and her fiery aura was visible. Not even Max would stop his wife if she decided to start blowing up knowing he's the one that has to live with her. Jess slammed her hands on the table hard enough sparks rose from the impact. "You men DARE try accusing my baby of a crime when he was a victim? Don't you people have any real crimes to work with than trying to protect a pathetic thief that would have gotten away if not for my son? If you guys did your jobs better, maybe someone wouldn't be breaking into homes in the dead of night to begin with!"

"Babe. Maybe you should go in the other room and.....," Max actually flinched a bit when Jess glared at him. Max loved his wife, but once her temper hit a point she was unable to keep quiet. It was a well known trait of fire users as many of them were ordered to wear a band that helps keep their flames in check, Jess refused to wear it because the only things that made her madder than anything was sexism and people that target her children, both things she believed the person should be beat for.

"Shut up Max! You didn't even stick up for Chaz when he was suspended, you blamed him for defending himself as well. If I was the one that found that thief he would have more than a broken arm. Now, you two, unless you're going to thank him for doing your job for you get the hell out of my house. I heard Midlands has a lot of Mountain Laws, such as being able to harm anyone who enters your private property."

"Babe, Please, don't threaten the guardsmen, they are just doing their job." Max's voice changed a lot while he tried calming his wife down. One wrong word and she could explode. It seemed the Guardsmen got the hint because they both got up.

"I think that is all we could get. Sorry for taking your time. We'll get back to you if we learn anything else." The men were being glared at by Chaz, Max, and Jess.

Jess lead the men out of her house and slammed the door behind them before reappearing like normal and grabbing Chaz's head, "You were hit!? Where? You idiot, what if something happened to you? What if that thief was a water user or an air user? You should have came straight home."

"Mom I'm fine. Besides, like I said, it was a surprise attack. What's the point of training with dad if I can't even take down a petty thief?"

Jess was looking at the bump on Chaz's head and decided to touch it to make sure it hurt, or at least that's what Chaz thought she was doing because she started poking at it as if she could push it back down. Max's Steel Sand receded and went back into his vest. He kinda just patted Chaz on the shoulder and left him alone. When Bloom got home she was filled in by Jess and she started poking at Chaz's head. Chaz just wanted to go to sleep. It was to early, but she ended up spending all day listening to Jess and Bloom talk about how unfair people are to Chaz. Unfortunately it was too late for Chaz to sleep after the girls left. Chaz had something he wanted to do. Chaz grabbed his backpack and his orange bandanna and snuck out the window. It was another peaceful night and he was excited. He got on his bike and rode into town. Midland City had a lot of nocturnal people, and most of them lived closer to downtown. Max was not nocturnal so they lived further away, in the quiet neighborhoods. One good thing about being in a nocturnal friendly city was a lot of shops were always open, and over the past week Chaz was able to get everything he needed without his family even knowing he left the house, tonight he would be done.

Chaz rode his bike right into his high school's courtyard. It had a completely different feeling at night. During the day it felt like a child prison, one he can't wait to get out of, but that night it felt like the best place ever. It was dark, the moonlight bounced off the windows, and the giant clockface glowed giving it a mystical feeling. Chaz drove behind the sports building and hid his bike in the bushes. He had never been on this side of the building so it took him a while to find a small hidden ladder going down, down to Chaz's secret room. Chaz left the emergency exit unlocked for the day when he needed to get away, and he's been thinking about doing this since he got his bandanna. Once he got in his secret room he put his backpack down and ran out, up the stairs into the locker rooms. It was almost pitch black but Chaz knew his way around well enough. Walking confidently Chaz reached the Football Storage room and grabbed a spare set of shoulder pads. They weren't an exact match, but they would do for now. They were quite bigger than he was but they should fit just fine once everything is sorted out.

Safely in his room Chaz opened his backpack and dumped everything on the floor. A metal pole he used to hit himself in the head, a faded orange Savannah Guardsmen vest, a pitch black shirt, a pair of kneepads and shin protectors, old combat boots, and a couple rolls of gauze. He took a deep breath and grew. His beard grew and the blue aura appeared, but he was calm, making the aura light smooth and calm until it just vanished. Chaz took his hoodie and shirt off. Once off his clothes instantly started shrinking back to their original size. Chaz was curious to see what happened if you took clothes off in spirit mode, since he was way bigger than usual, and now he knew, but he was already excitedly putting on his new clothes. Boots, Pads, shirt, vest, shoulder protectors, he wrapped his arms with the gauze, and finally and most important of all, he tied the bandanna on his head. He really wasn't satisfied with the shoulder guards, Jax's were more armor like, but at the moment he didn't care, He kinda just wanted to see what it would look like. Quickly running back up the stairs and into the bathroom. He cut on the light and walked up to the first mirror. Chaz had actually never seen himself in spirit mode. He really did look like a bear, big, tall, intimidating, even though he was younger than he made Jax he had the exact air around him he meant for Jax to have, a fighter that didn't expect things to come easy. Of course one thing that threw off the whole look was how dark the circles below his eyes were getting. Wow, he really should sleep soon.

"Not bad, but those shoulder pads really are terrible on you."

Chaz almost jumped out of his skin. He turned, ready to fight, but was stunned when he was finally able to process who was in front of him. Standing there with a rather cocky grin, orange vest, shoulder pads, leg pads, and most importantly, an orange bandanna was the real Jax. Chaz wasn't able to say anything, he really needed to sleep soon.

"Aww, don't give me that look boy. You're the one that said I was finally alive."
