ermg no Sari bun is me.So lots of people know by now my main character is this blue cat named Cakie. But I never draw her. Truth is, I don't really like her as much as my other characters. She was created because of Neopets, for my baby Aisha, which is a blue cat, when I was a kid.
I mean, I do really love Cakie and I would miss her blue star cat design, but my favourite things are pink, strawberries, and bunnies. And I try really hard to draw Cakie, but every time I do, I am dissatisfied and never post the picture. It's been almost 2 years since I started on dA and I haven't drawn her full body once...
But I think if Cakie were this pudgy strawberry bunny, I would want to draw her aaaaall the time. So I really don't know what I am going to do. For some reason this bothers me really bad, I guess I feel guilty towards everyone who drew her for me, and I feel like I am abandoning a child.xD I really like her head shape and I really like her design, I just relate to this character so much more... I am probably the only person who gets this bothered over something like this.xD
So this might be the new Cakie, strawberry cupcake themed with a dollop of cream for her tail.

Sari, I SO understand your struggles. I started with my OC Dino as a pony but as things went on, she ended up being pony, human, dragon, cat, and so on. Kinda like a shapeshifter (because I couldn't part myself from any of these)! So maybe you can do something similar with Cakie, maybe she is a bunny at daytime and cat at nighttime? Or once a month during fullmoon? Or the old Cakie just gets a new name? ;u;
Personally, I think the bunny suits you a lot better and it would represent your species better too.

Nah, but I might do slightly different colourations and accessories like I've seen people do with that Miku diva anime girl, the one with the long blue ponytails. I think that's really cute.^^ Though she does have a human form already though, that's when she transforms into the fairy of cake.

You could do a mix between them! Take all the traits you like from the original cakie and add them to the new cakie.

I honestly like this version of Cakie better, but I understand abandoning/retiring a main character after so long. I was very bothered initially when I did something similar after quitting a writing project. So many people had associated me with a character called 'Gene' and drew him for me and really enjoyed him, but i got very tired of him when the story ended so I put him away and now have my new main character who I use for so many things; I feel I can relate better to my new character and he suits me better- but I am still to this day a little sad over retiring Gene.
That being said, I do think this Cakie suits the idea/vision you have for Cakie! better than the blue cat version; But both are a special part of you, and in the end which ever make you happier should be Cakie.

Well, maybe the former Cakie could officially hand over her office to this new critter who's also named Cakie? ^w^ Cakie the cat and Cakie the bunny! That way you can keep the old name, and have an explanation for the change "in-character," as it were!

Well, I would kinda miss the blue cat Cakie, but this one is super adorable so I think I could learn to love her fairly quickly. Plus I have never drawn Cakie yet, so if she's gonna change I'm glad it happened now rather than later. But doesn't that mean you will have to change all of your icons and the Stickies and everything, too? I was hoping Stickies would become active soon, 'cause now that I'm in the group I'd like to make a Paper Pet and start collecting them.

Lol yeah I'd have to redraw a few things... maybe quite a few things, but I think I can handle it.xD I was hoping to make the Stickies again as soon as I finish this batch of commissions, might be another month.D8 Oh but everyone who drew the original Cakie still gets credit for the sticky just the same.^^

I personally like this design and think it fits you! This would be a cute new version of Cakie. If you never draw the old design and don't like it, you should probably change it, but it's your choice.

Cakie looks very lovely! I love that the design is closer to what you like, which gives her symbolism. I adore the strawberry bowtie, because it fits very well with her color scheme.

I dunno why either. I think you're stressing out about what people are going to say/think a bit too much.
She's your OC, you can do what you want with her and if people don't like it that's their problem.
Especially since Cakie is your brand name and mascot. It's important you that you actually like her.
