ermg no Sari bun is me.So lots of people know by now my main character is this blue cat named Cakie. But I never draw her. Truth is, I don't really like her as much as my other characters. She was created because of Neopets, for my baby Aisha, which is a blue cat, when I was a kid.
I mean, I do really love Cakie and I would miss her blue star cat design, but my favourite things are pink, strawberries, and bunnies. And I try really hard to draw Cakie, but every time I do, I am dissatisfied and never post the picture. It's been almost 2 years since I started on dA and I haven't drawn her full body once...
But I think if Cakie were this pudgy strawberry bunny, I would want to draw her aaaaall the time. So I really don't know what I am going to do. For some reason this bothers me really bad, I guess I feel guilty towards everyone who drew her for me, and I feel like I am abandoning a child.xD I really like her head shape and I really like her design, I just relate to this character so much more... I am probably the only person who gets this bothered over something like this.xD
So this might be the new Cakie, strawberry cupcake themed with a dollop of cream for her tail.

Aww ty, I crossed that part out though, Cakie is still the cat, and I made this bunny me.^^ I would like this character more as my brand mascot, but Cakie as a cat is stuck in my head, and I think she's more colourful and appealing for children, idk. It seems like little kids like more obnoxiously coloured things.xDDD Oh and probably more people like cats, a cat head on everything might get more fans, idk. I hope to sell merchandise to everyone like Sanrio and those other brands do.^^

They are both great, and you're absolutely right about cats lol, gotta consider some marketing aspects there and it will get more attention than the bunny. Whenever I've uploaded a cat anywhere, it's been far more popular than my equivalent art of other creatures. xD

As for Cakie, I think that losing interest in a design choice happens from time to time.
I've had this happen before, but instead of getting too flustered over it, I just tried out some new designs, colors, poses, etc. on the character and that fixed the problem. And of course you don't have to change the colors or design permanently, but it's just a fun way to get back your interest in the character.
Maybe Cakie just needs more attention. ^w^

Hm, maybe you could still use the original Cakie (the blue cat) as a character in your cakie universe! You could replace her current role with the new Cakie (the bunny) and still have her do something else. Maybe she could be a representative of the new Cakie? To keep things organized? Or maybe she could help your other characters in some way? I think there's plenty of things you could still use her for! ^^

I honestly love both this cakie and blue cat cakie, but I feel that this one is a better representation of you and your company, especially since you enjoy her much more. Both of them are beyond adorable so whichever one you choose, I think it will work out great!!! <333

This design is soo cute. Its fine if you want to change you're mascot we all understand and support you with whatever makes you happy so don't worry too much about it. And if it bothers you so much you can even have more than one mascot. Just do what makes you happy

Maybe instead you could have TWO mascots!
The bunny you could call Shortcake cuz ya know strawberry shortcake.
And then you could draw them both TOGETHER!

Maybe Cakie could be a shapeshifter, and old cakie is just her kittyu form? That way you get to keep the design and not feel bad about "abandoning" old cakie!

If this is really upsetting you, maybe you could make the change a bit slower? Like, make small changes at a time. If you find a design in between the two characters that you like, great! Use that design!
But hey, don't feel bad. I'm pretty sure that we're all OK with this. Use whatever character you like the most.
