I am not a huge fan of pet photos here on DA, but there is a long story behind this picture and those of you that know me know that I am about to relay that story in full:

The other day I came home from work to a ton of bustling in the garage. It turns out my that when they were in the bush that evening some of my family members came across a family of 5 little kittens and their mom that someone had dumped there. The mother, who is a Diluted Calico that we named Stella (because she is a single mom and is very hard done by, ie: A Streetcar Named Desire) had made a den for her kittens and that is where they were living.

It was obvious that the cat family had been outside for a while because they were starving to death, you could see all their bones. It is DISGUSTING the way some people can mistreat and abandon animals like that. It costs NOTHING to bring them to an animal shelter. They usually take them no-questions-asked. We are boarding the cat family for a week while we get them up-to-date on their vaccinations and then we are going to give them to our local chapter of PetSave who will place them all with loving families. They will be cared for until they are all placed, including the mother, and will not be euthanized. There is no doubt in my mind that they will all find a home, including mom, they are so friendly and socialized, not feral at all. It is going to be hard to give them up, but we have our own family of pets to take care of, we couldn't afford to take all these.

If you are thinking to adopt a pet, go to a shelter or the Humane Society. Don't buy them from a pet store or a breeder. There are so many wonderful animals that need homes today. My entire life we've gotten all of our pets from shelters and they have given us nothing but love and happiness.
