Do you have to know Honor Harrington to get all the story? If you want the best space combat in novel form try Execution Hour and Shadow Point(in that reading order), for me anyway. You dont even need to know Battlefleet Gothic to enjoy( but knowing would help explain the larger story, not just whats in the novels.)

No, the story does not require Honor Harrington.

Honor of Harrington(never heard of it) maybe the main insperation, but after reading i see more Battlefleet Gothic than anything else. The way the ships Navigator flys it through hypspace is ripping off how 40k navigators use the light of the Astronomicon as a guiding beacon through the Warp( a million times more awesome version of hyperspce). Now we just need a map of the system and its Mandevill Point.

I do recommend the Honorverse.
And - the idea of navigators in hyperspace, in and of itself, is not ripping off 40K. It's ripping off how actual ships had navigators. (The first Honor Harrington book was published in 1993, six years before Battlefleet Gothic itself.)
...anyway.
Don't get me wrong, I do know a fair amount about 40K, but the Honorverse was absolutely what I was going for.

This is *brilliant*. A nearly seamless crossover that preserves the feel of the two (very different) series in the same work. Please tell me there is more... if you can do this with the base characters, I'd love to see what you can do with the villains!

There are seven chapters of this fic (which brings the events of this incident to a close) and I AM working on a sequel, too... but I've got so many fic types on the go that any given one moves slowly.

Thanks. It's also that rare thing for me - something with an actual conclusion. (I'm working on a sequel, but the first story arc is wrapped up)

Do let me know if there's any particularly good part, especially in the rest of the fic. I'm proud of chapter five, for example.

Shining Armor: Blueblood!
Prince Blueblood: Ah! Oh, its you, Shining.
Shining Armor: There's something you should know.
Prince Blueblood: What is it, Shining?
Shining Armor: Ponies in space!
Prince Blueblood: PONIES IN SPACE?
Shining Armor: Ponies in space!
Prince Blueblood: Well that's just silly.
Shining Armor: I know, right?
Yugioh abridged LOL. But seriously, great picture.

The picture isn't mine, it's by Kampzvono.
The 40,000+ word fanfic, however, is. (This is chapter one of seven).

Ponies + Honor Harrington=Awsome, I've read the first 5 books in the series and at all costs (library didn't have all of them), but great job. But a quick question, Whitch one is Honor?

If you've finished what I've posted thus far, then...
Several of them have some aspect or another of Honor's life (example being Dash messing around with a review much like Honor did) but I've taken pains to make sure it's an "original" plotline, rather than being too much like one or other of the Honorverse books. All the Mane 6 (and others) are pretty much based on their MLP characterizations transferred to the navy.
That said, Cloud Dancer (the unusually tall pegasus who is Harmony's tac officer) is "Dances on Clouds"' parallel - so, Honor's. This is a parallel of her at an early career stage.
Oh, and [link] here. E-books!
This also contains the Starfire/Stars at War series (where the fighters come from) and the Boloverse books like Old Soldiers (the origin of the Dog battle mechs), as well as the standalone Apocalypse Troll - and it's that standalone that Dash's not-strictly-kosher Colonel rank comes from, as the fleet fighter leader in that book is Colonel Ludmilla Leonovna.

All the Ponies in Space things are part of the same plot, and there's a concluding chapter in the works. If they're a bit unwieldy to read on DA thanks to the format, I also have it up on FIMFiction and on Fanfiction.net.

After I watched my first episode of MLP, I googled for some Honor Harrington crossover. I found just some HMS Hogwarts and Captain Potter. Not exactly what I was looking for... But now it's here. And it's awesome!

Thanks! Heh, as my FF.net profile says, sometimes I write a fic because inspiration hits me, sometimes because I want to read it. This is somewhere in the middle.

Honor Harrington AND Ponies..... I don't think I need to say more. A book series I love and a show I love. Keep it up, I would love to see where this goes.
Just a shot in the dark but I think the griffins would be Haven.

I'm not directly aligning the enemies with anyone quite that closely, as it happens. And I'll certainly see what I can do with keeping this going!

Good to know.
I've tried to build in the sense of a "larger world", like the Shetland Island academy (a nice little pun, I think) and "standard issue combat staff".
