Damien had been working hard on the final touches to the Kennel. Things could finally start. He was checking his email, seeing resume from potential kennel hands, groomers and trainers. He happened to come across a notice of a new litter at STS. ‘Shepherds, hmm?’ He thought to himself. He looked over the pups, they where all beautiful with great personalities. He came across one in particular that caught his eye. He leaned forward and looked over the pictured they had of her. He wanted to see her in person to really get an understanding of the young pup. He called STS to arrange a visit.

Damien headed out to STS to see the pup. He was eager to see her, he had a really good feeling about the whole thing. When he got there, he greeted the staff and went to see the pup. He spent quite a lot of time with the her, most of which was just him watching. He looked at everything, how she moved, how she played with the other pups. Damien then took a moment to play with her, but not only that, he tested her temperament and how well she listened. It was like everything they had written. She was smart. Damien fell in love with the little girl. He was not going to leave STS without her.

On the way home she slept, curled up in the front seat. Damien couldn’t even think of the possibilities with this girl. She would make a fine competitor indeed. Damien kept her with him for the night. He had something he wanted to try in the morning with the pup. As he got ready for bed he also tried thinking of a name for the her. He went to bed still trying to think of one.

By morning he had a name. “Well Schatzi, there is someone I want you to help me with.” He said to her. She looked at him as if she was already thinking about what it could be. Kala our year and a half old Shepherd what still quite shy. He put Kala out first, since she wouldn’t usually go out if there was another dog there before she was. He went and got Schatzi. “Okay girl, lets see if my theory is right.” He said as he pet her lightly. He knew that dogs often favoured ones of their own breed. He was hoping that if Kala trusted Schatzi, she could then give her more confidence.

Damien let Kala come and sniff Schatzi, who stayed very calm and quiet. Kala already seemed much more confident approaching Schatzi. Damien let the two spend sometime together. He watched them to make sure they where okay. It was the first time he had seen Kala really play with another dog. Damien smiled as he watched them. Not only is she going to make a great competitor she’s a great therapy dog to help boost Kala’s confidence. Schatzi already seemed to make quite an impression on the whole family. Even Liz didn’t complain about the new family member.

And though Schatzi is younger than Kala she’s very much Kala’s older sister. Schatzi is very interested in everything and when she sees something new its almost seems like she’s trying to figure it out. She loves training and gets extremely happy when Damien works with her.

Notes: This well-built Bicolor girl seems to be a mini-me of her mother's personality. Determined and hard-working, even as a puppy she is showing a rare level of devotion to her handlers and seems to want nothing more than to learn and please - when she looks at you, you can almost see the cogs of her brain turning. With both a good personality and body, she will grow up to excel at many different disciplines.
