I NEED to go here someday. Studied it in history of arch. Lemme see San Marco , Venice , hmm and I remember it was a surprisingly early date.... 1320 ?Probably not.
But yea, beautiful building and great picture.

Its definately a grand building (the cathedral). The square and the adjacent Doge's Palace are more standard yet polished structures. In Venice, the beauty as an architect would be to walk the thin alleys and streets and how they open up into small country courtyards with a small church/coffee places/resturants etc. Something so similar to Old Muharraq.
Also the place is fascinating from a structural point of view. It will be impossible to believe but the whole city's structures are based on compressed wooden foundations. how they have not rotted away past 100s of years is unbelievable. The theory is that they have been envelopped in the clay soil under the water so theyve been in a water tight environment.
History of Arch from which Uni?

Nice, kinda tempted to come back to Bahrain and ease the studies a bit. Tempted but unlikely I guess.

It is relatively cold here , and it fluctuates between -10 and 10. Overall its not a very cold state though, its usually warm. Its about 5-8 degrees cooler than Bahrain at any time.It was very cold on the weekend but the weekdays have been decent. How is Shanghai, I've heard a lot of good things ?

I think as a student of architecture, you should visit Shanghai in your 3rd year or 4th year of Architecture. The first 2 years are very formative ones where you shouldnt be thinking of design styles but more of approach to basic design etc.
The place is a benchmark for other Asian nations like India, Thailand, indonesia & Pakistan where there is availability of manpower and knowledge but the governments havent implemented the principles of development like China (at least in its major cities). It's also quite a safe city for foreigners.

It's one of the places I want to see before I die as are other places in Italy. My mother's father was from Calabria. The architecture here is breathtaking. Such lines and hues. Lovely shot, dear.

Calabria is one of those core rustic southern heartlands of Italy with some amazing scenery and culture!
Im sure you'll visit Italy for sure. On my vacation, the largest number of visitors to Italy were from the states.

It was derived from something of an oriental version.

Yes, the "oriental" influences can be seen. Also when i was there, there was a huge exhibition going on called :"enezia and Islam"
