And that's what I don't understand in this case.
I can understand people shipping Shika with Temari OR Ino, cause BOTH could happen (or NONE).
But Sakura is CLEARLY in love with Sasuke, so you either OOC/AU her a lot (and that's NOT the real Sakura anymore then) - or you're not making any sense whatsoever by claiming it's Sakura to begin with, if you "make" her fall for Naruto.
That's why I even highly dislike NaruHina "Modern AU" and such, cause it's NOT NaruHina anymore to begin with.
It's just some random people with their names.
I do still like OOC/AU fics that HAPPEN in Narutoverse, even if it makes Hinata go RTNata or similarly, because it's NOT changing her canon FEELINGS, only "the package", so to speak.
But NaruSaku MUST change Sakura's canon feelings to happen, which is over the border in being OOC/AU for my liking.
Same goes for SasuHina and KibaHina.
It's not that I hate NaruSaku per se - I just don't see it making any canon sense FEELINGS-wise.
I see NO DIFFERENCE between NaruSaku and MadaraHanabi in this context - neither has the APPROPRIATE CANON FEELINGS to back it up.

Yes but I think the point, by shipping in general, is the imagination and the fantasy behind it. I personally love it, something like that brings more art and fantasy to people's mind, even if the characters in those pictures, ff (or what else) aren't like the "real ones", but that doesn't matter. Also all the characters in the actual manga evolved from the fantasy of a man called Masashi Kishimoto, why shouldn't we design some part of his work according to our imaginings? In addiction people come together to share their art and find perhaps some friends (same ship= same taste).Β
Sadly some people take it too serious... They escape in a dreamworld, in which others imaginations/ meanings etc are short of space (-->occur Ship-wars). I mean what will those people get from that? Bashing others for different opinions? That caused a lot of sh** in the past (I guess you all should know one or more historical happenings...). Although their ship become canon, what they gain? except for satisfication at first ( that will vanish). But guys, those characters are fictional. Focus more on your real life... Of course shipping brings fun, but it stops if it prevails and becomes your purpose in life.
Saying this I really don't want to offend anyone, it is just a please to tolerate everyone's opinions, with that we all can enjoy the fun with fantasy, expressed in pictures, ect..

I agree that shipping shouldn't lead to real life abuse (even verbal), but SOME people rather LOOK for "triggers" to jump at others...
Anyways, I do disagree with you on one point, that characters are FULLY fictional.
I mean, THEY are, but their PERSONALITIES might be NOT as fictional as one thinks.
Taking Hinata as an example (as to why I react so sharply to Hinata-haters).
I of course know that there isn't and never was a Hinata Hyuuga - but this doesn't mean that there never was or even maybe IS, such a gentle timid girl with family issues, who found her inspirational love in some guy who has personal struggles he overcomes through cheerfulness.
Then, the entire NaruHina story (minus villains and wars, though even that can have a real life EQUIVALENT, like thugs or illnesses) unfolds EXACTLY like in the manga.
And then someone comes and starts BULLYING this REAL girl (the real life equivalent for a character-hater)...
Would you also sit idly and watch???
Oh, and some more stuff.
There CAN happen a situation of a PERSONAL SACRIFICE, just like with the fictional Hinata - except it would NOT be from some enemy, but rather something ROUTINELY, yet equally dangerous and requiring HUGE personal sacrifices.
Like, dealing with an extremely upset husband (or his annoying "friends" that keep bothering him).
It'd take such a REAL "Hinata" ALL HER COURAGE to actually stand up to such a situation - EXACTLY how the fictional one stood up against an S-classed Pain.
And so on and so forth.
The point - we should LEARN from characters, not BASH them.
Unless they're an example of how NOT to behave (sorry, but I clearly consider Sakura to be SUCH a type).

I agree with you, that bashing those characters is really idiotic (bullying real people even more!) and for those who identify themselves with those characters it's also painful. But still, even if there are a lot of similarities between the fictional character and the one in real life, there are still differences. We could, as you said, learn from those characters what we should do or should't, but never construe our own life to follow the lead, because that will also lead to the problem, that the manga or else, becomes the purpose in life. So what we could learn? Understanding and to tolerate people (but not those who doesn't tolerate others), will cause peace and harmony, and isn't that, what we all are looking for? Also for what Naruto stands for?Β

I think that's what I meant too.
Funny, but though I don't resemble Hinata at all in MY personal life (AND I'm a guy, though this is the least difference in this case) - I'm fully "with her" emotionally.
I can relate to her on extreme levels, for some unknown to me reason.
Thus, it does mean that her emotional struggle CAN be applied to REAL LIFE.
Anyways, I fully agree that I don't get those "fans" who use NARUTO as a source of HATRED of ANY sort...
It goes 100% AGAINST the very THEME of the series - COMPASSION, UNDERSTANDING, TOLERANCE, FORGIVENESS and LOVE.
I can't see any of that in those TROLLISH "fans" I encounter so often...
Some of them even seem as if they REALLY need some mental HELP, ugh...

No, Sakura just SEEMS to be MADE as a FAILURE intentionally somehow.
I'm pretty sure that Kishi is ruining her character on purpose, NOT because he's such a bad writer.
After all, most other characters are at the very least MEDIOCRE, while Sakura is AWFUL.
And I'm NOT talking about her motivations OR her crush-love for Sasuke.
No, I'm talking about how she constantly talks big, but fails even bigger...
IF she wasn't bragging so much, she'd be much better.
But the disappointment comes from her failing AFTER bragging, which amplifies it x9000.
Sad, yes, but it's a fact of perspective I can't shake off easily.
And my urge of comparing her to Anna Kyoyama (while ALSO comparing Hinata to Tamao Tamamura at the same time) isn't helping her one bit - quite the contrary.
I don't know what was/is Kishi's initial reason for making her this way - but the result is really weird for a MAIN character.

Not exactly true.
I would rate Hinata around 7/10 (fluctuating between 5/10 and 9/10), while Sakura never climbed above 5/10 (and fluctuated between 1/10 and 7/10)...
The other females simply had way too little screen time to get an accurate rating in my opinion.
