This is just stunning.
Truly amazing. I didn't think it was possible to draw like this. You have achieved the impossible. :'>

Are you perhaps going to draw the characters from Big Hero 6? As a mild Disney fanatic, I get all excited when you draw Disney characters.

I like the more dramatic light of the last one. In fact, I might have made the shadows a little darker to match the highlights.

I love it.

So these are the steps you use to draw? Cool, I just start with some line art, color it, and then start demolishing it with the smudgy tool.

You're really talented and hard working! But there is something about Patreon that I'm not big fun of. A lot of people, instead of using this precious knowledge in your tutorials to improve their own style, they're just coping your style insolenty. And the effect is that there is more and more pieces which are looking like your works (not exactly, 'cause in this particular style you'll be always on better). It makes me sad a bit 'cause everyone has different styles and this is why art is so exctiting.

People, all of you can add something special to the world of art, learn from Sakimichan, don't copy her

DLowell In reply to MKmiec [2015-02-22 22:55:35 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean about copying the style.

That's mostly because they might be drawing from only one source.

It's better to try to draw from multiple sources of knowledge, inspiration or references. People don't really need to spend money to get those either. Internet, your local library/bookstore, museums, etc.

MKmiec In reply to DLowell [2015-02-23 09:24:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I agree with you but I understand also when someone want to invest money and learn something from great artists, and I also do it from time to time, I like to support artists 'cause they put a lot of effort to be where they are now.

Finally people can do whatever they want with their money, but copying someone's style is not only annoying, it's just pointless (they see that Sakimichan is great artist and she can make a living off of painting, and they want the same, but what they don't understand is that she worked so hard for it and spent hours and hours to learn what she knows and that they need to do the same 'cause nobody will be great artist with copying style of another one)

DLowell In reply to MKmiec [2015-02-23 15:56:46 +0000 UTC]

There's also a difference between working with a reference like a stock photo and directly tracing/copying over it.

Tottaly agree
We say yes to references, no to copying :3

this patreon thing, to me, looks like begging, and it's annoying

Sounds like someone is cheap and thinks artists don't need to make money for their talents... There are other free tutorials and services out there, your choice.

Radiatic In reply to CharlieFleed [2015-02-21 13:53:38 +0000 UTC]

Hey, I just want to point out that begging is asking for money without offering anything, while having a patreon is offering a service and people who have the money can decide to pay for that service. The way it is done might not appeal to everyone, but there aren't that many ways how artists can successfully and safely make money online, so I think it's a pretty good thing to have.

CharlieFleed In reply to Radiatic [2015-02-22 10:09:58 +0000 UTC]

"The way it is done might not appeal to everyone" <<-- exactly

I buy art, I commission stuff for my game, and I see or agree on the items I am buying in every detail and in advance. Patreon puts the emphasis on the money and as for the art it's just "do you thing".

Radiatic In reply to CharlieFleed [2015-02-22 11:50:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but it's still not begging, isn't it? Begging is just asking for stuff without anything in return.

it's my perception

JohnSlaughter In reply to CharlieFleed [2015-02-21 12:18:16 +0000 UTC]

She's making almost $30,000 a MONTH now because of it, and people like me get to see these great video tutorials and paintings. It's great, and I'm glad she's such a huge success for it.

She doesn't need to beg, we're willingly signing up because we're getting our money's worth out of it.
