Okay, first of all. What is Roleplay (RP)?

'Roleplay' or RP is the term used for 'acting' as a character, controlling their actions and words and allowing them to interact with other characters through your posts. Alot of people RP their OC, Fursona, Anime Characters, Horses, Wolves etc.

Now, there's NO need to be 'embarassed' about RP, I've seen alot of people say "I want to RP, but don't tell anyone". Why? Because, the second you mention Roleplay to someone who isn't farmiliar with it, they think of either Cosplay or Sex. To people who participate, RP is to act as your OC, Sona etc. Most people RP like this...

I hate this RP 'style', I call it MSN RP.

MSN RP vs. Story RP

I'm not saying there are right or wrong ways to Roleplay, but it's so much more interesting and interactive, when you lengthen your post and include more movment, more life to each paragraph, this doesn't mean pick all the long words from a thesaurus that you can and shove it in, it means 'fill it out', use imagery to help whoever you're RP'ing with get a good, clear idea of what's happening. This turns your boring old 'MSN RP' post into a 'Story RP' post. I call it a 'Story RP' because if you put all of the posts together, you can read it like a story!

It's not hard to turn a post from an MSN RP into one that'd fit into a Story RP.
Here I've written a post as a highschool student named Raphael in 'MSN RP' style, beneath it I have demonstrated how you can turn a simple one lined post into a creative paragraph.

For Example

MSN RP: // Raphael: [runs out and over to Zack and glomps him] Hi Zack! //

Story RP: // Raphael: Raphael was bored, he'd been sitting in class for what seemed like hours, even if it had been less than one. He sighed, leaning back in his chair and staring out of the window, the clouded sky was far more interesting than the teachers boring lecture. His mood lifted when the class was dismissed, and he was among the first to throw his case over his shoulder and head out of the dust covered, musky aired old room and relieve his ears from the teachers dull voice. As he strolled down the corridor as bright as day he spotted someone, even from here he recognized his friend and grinned, sneakily jogging down the hall way before throwing his arm over Zacks shoulder, "Hey Zack!" he smirked. //

I like to call this 'Story RP' because if you put all of the posts together, it's read just like a story, you can imagine the scene in your head as if you were watching it on TV.

Make sense!

I mentioned earlier, alot of RP'ers who try 'Story RP' just throw in the longest words they can possibly find, this simply means that their post dosent make sense if no one knows what the hell they're talking about, if you make use words that no one understands the meaning of, then why bother using them?

Rules

There are no actual 'Rules' to RP'ing. However, there should be.
When I RP with someone, I ask them to follow just two rules.

- No Powerplaying.

Powerplaying is where not only do you RP your own character, but you keep trying to take control of someone elses. Powerplaying makes the experience LESS enjoyable for the other RP'er, who can't do much with their character if you take over. This also goes for killing, alot of the time I'll see "He stabs Red through the heart". Unless you have the other Rpers permission, you should not majorly hurt nor should you kill their characters.

- No Godmodding.

Godmodding is where the RP'er makes their character 'God like'. For example, it has every power in the world and can never be harmed, or die. Again, this makes the RP boring for those you're RP'ing with

These aren't official rules (of course) but they do help make the RP fun, and fair for everyone.
