Description OK...so I've been trying to make somewhat realistic vector glass. This has been harder than I thought. Someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong!

BTW: Yea this peice has bad symmetry, it's plain, and I got lazy with the labels...so sue me. Unless you can say something about the glass dont bother with critisism.

Not bad at all, very stylish. I think the only thing that needs work is the upper part of the bottle. Other than that, you did a great job.

Actually, I like this a lot. The overall image is great - but the artist always notices the little things.
Kind of reminds me of a 50's era of art, which I adore. It looks like it's coming back in a way, and I hope it is!

This is really good, I love the way it looks so real, but you're right.. something does seem a bit off about the glass.. I can't quite tell what it is.. @__@ and it's bothering me.. I just looked at it again and I still can't tell what's off about it... well, this is still very nice.. and it looks very real. I really like the cork. It looks as though it came from a photograph!

The stem is too thick for a modern wine glass, so if it looks weird its probably that. Also, the lighting is coming from 2 directions, that was on purpose to stylize it a litte bit...realism is no fun.

I guess what I'm really looking for is someone to show me an example of good vector glass without using a billion shapes.

Hmm.. well I've never played with vector programs before. Soo I wouldn't be able to tell ya. .. but I still like that cork...

Wow, this is some impressive work here. The glass has been down real well, the red wine in the glasses in particluar is what catches my eye. The only thing I would reccomend would be to make the wine in the bottle more opaque. I serve alot of red wine at parties and it rarely is that clear in the bottle. Great work still

This looks really good to me. The only thing I can think to improve the glass would be to add a slightly different color to it than the background. I know most wine glasses are clear, but because it just blends into the background it looks less real. Other than that, it looks really good. You did a nice job with the shadows .

Sleek simple & oh so sexy.

I wish more vector artists had such vision!

This is the strongest work in your gallery so far. It looks great. Awesome vector work. Only thing that I find unusual is the lighting. You've got a good start. Since I have taken a lighting cource, I am more prepared to crit this. Here's my crit:

Judging by your highlights, the light is comming from the top front. Like, directly to the left of the viewer. However, your shadows tell a different story. If light was comming from the top right background, as indicated by your shadows, then it seems like the green bottle needs shadow on the back right side... maybe the whole back side? Granted, light does go through glass, also taking into consideration the thickness of glass, and the liquid inside of it; it will still be darker. The shadow you have casted on the left side of the bottle doesn't seem to work, in my opinion. The wine glasses, considering the shadow position, there would be more highlights on the top of the glasses and a dimmer highlight on the side; I would assume.

How i would fix it? If you want to keep your highlights; Easiest way is to reposition the table shadows casted by the object by moving them towards the right and shrink the height of them. Make them more towards the object. Take the left shadow away. See what that does.

What you could do is set up a still life like this in your room or something and see how light actuall hits it, like *rabidwire suggested.

It really looks great. Just unusual lighting in my opinion. Tell me otherwise if you disagree.

typo: "If light was comming from the top right background" should be "If light was comming from the top LEFT background"

That makes a big difference.

you have the basic idea- you should do a sketch of glass and where the light hits in the shiny spots. i think it should be more triangular. just look at some real glass thats roughly in the same shape as this- you'll see what you're doing wrong.
