Guess who's drawing again?
I've wanted to draw Joscelin since I first read Kushiel's Dart in, if I remember right, eleventh grade. The guy is just...awesome. And what better way to break in my newly fixed laptop?
I've discovered that colors are a lot different on my Dad's computer, compared to my laptop :/ He's supposed to have chain-mail on the backs of his hands, but I couldn't get that to look right.

Secret to drawing/painting quick and easy chainmail:
1) lightly sketch out horizontal stripes as a guide (optional, but helpful)
2) Make a row of semicircles, like so: ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
3) Below it, make a row in the opposite direction: ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
4) Lather, rinse, repeat: ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

If you're painting it, you can add shadows and highlights to the links to make them look round, and you can overlap the rows slightly for a more realistic look. Hope this comes in handy! ^o^/

Oh wow! It looks nifty! Though, I must say that the hair does not seem to blend in with the rest of the picture. It looks more like it was pasted into the picture as opposed to being a part of it. Nice detail otherwise! Looks great!

I know the hair sticks out a ridiculous amount, despite the fact that there's a LOT of the blue-gray color in it. I think I'll go back and tone it down a bit.

Mmmm, is the tunic supposed to be raised from the body like that? It looks like a very stiff material that was um, lifted when he bent over o_O; Also, um, the shading in the face and hair look very weak compared to that of the clothing and boots. Perhaps deepening the shadows under the brow and the underlayer of the hair.
I like his boots X3 Very pronounced and well shaped.

His jerkin, the overshirt, was generally hinted at being stiffer than a normal shirt, the only protection he had aside from the vambraces. *looks at the pic* Now that you mention it, you're right about the face-shading. I'll go back in and fiddle with that on a later date, right now it's bed-time.
