Description Here's Grover from SESAME STREET! This was drawn on the evening of January 4th, (the last night of my vacation in North Carolina), and is, if I'm not mistaken, my first color drawing of 2008!

I always loved Grover. He's one of my favorite Muppets on SESAME STREET besides Kermit (of course), Ernie & Bert, Cookie Monster and Big Bird. Since I am an old-school fan of SESAME STREET, especially with the new wave of old-school stuff like the new DVD sets (I got Vol. 2 yesterday, and need to find Vol. 1!), I just HAD to draw him! This drawing reminds me a great deal of the famous Golden Books SESAME STREET storybook, THE MONSTER AT THE END OF THIS BOOK (illustrated by Michael Smollin)! I used to have that book, and would love to get it again.

This drawing was done completely with Crayola colored pencils (with my signature done with a .05 Micron).

Grover is (C) Children's Television Workshop (now Sesame Workshop)

Heheh, that brings me memories...

Actually,
Those were from 1971( when sesame street still aired here - curiously, the franchise was licensed to be co-produced here, so Big Bird( "Garibaldo" here )was acted live, along with some other characters( there was one that lived in a barrel but didn´t liked to take baths; I don´t know if it was an original character or if it was added here ); however, Ernie and Bert( "Ênio" and "Beto" - close-sounding names indeed )were aired form tape...

That's quite fascinating! I think I might have seen a clip of it. The character who lived in a barrel sounds like a localized version of Oscar.

I know there was also another Latin version titled PLAZA SESAMO (which still airs in Mexico), and its own Big Bird was named Abelardo Montoya (who was a green parrot), who was just a foot shorter than Big Bird was.

Heh, I also liked when Penelope( ? )sometimes got irritated with the cookie monster( and his way of talking, too - "ME HUNGRY!" )
