Description Overnight close to 30 inches of snow fell along the Jersey shore, but the birds were out in force. Against a snowy background, this Cedar Waxwing eagerly fed on berries on a very cold morning. Cedar Waxwings are one of the only species that exclusively eat fruit, occasionally to the point of intoxication from alcohol producing fermented berries. This is my first post from the Canon 7D.

wow...
my mom has a big fancy cannon, but i can never get her to go birding with me, and she would kill me if she found it missing for a second.
i love this one, i love the colors!
it makes me wish we had bombycilla garrulus's hear... (sorry for the big words, but i want to be an ornithologist, and that means learning the big scary names!)

This is a Cedar Waxwing, not a bombycillia garrulus (the Bohemian Waxwing). If you live anywhere in the United States, you have Cedar Waxwings in your area at some time of the year or another.
