Description Orthographic drawings of a character I'm modeling and animating for class. Like many other characters of mine, creating her mentally spawned an entire world for her to inhabit.

WHERE: Cedany lives in a Feudal society, whose primary
population centers are cities suspended from a network of orbiting satellites. Far below, the world's land masses largely consist of a deadly mire teeming with biological hazards.

WHEN: Anachronistic time. Culturally, it’s similar to late
middle ages and early Renaissance. Technologically, they have access to futuristic airships, prosthetic limbs, and other advanced “relic” technology.

WHAT (does she do): Cedany is part of a prestigious royal strike force- called Gyres- composed solely of women with special ops training, and equipped with extremely advanced flight armor and varying levels of prosthesis (the left arm to start with) to bolster their capabilities. They primarily engage and dismantle airships belonging to invaders from the poisonous surface below. While afforded great prestige within society, they may not own personal property or hold noble titles- rather, they lead a cloistered life when not on missions.

WHY (motivation): Cedany has sworn fealty to her society from a very young age- all Gyres are surreptitiously recruited young- and this she will protect without question. The final act of loyalty before earning the duty of the Gyres is replacement of the left arm; they are literally willing to give an arm (and a leg, sometimes more) for their society. She, like the overwhelming majority of her society, is also a devotee to the society’s monotheistic religion. And, even more than the other Gyres, she takes utmost joy in the freedom and grace of flight.

WHO (personality): Cedany, a young 20s adult, is of the age where she will start questioning the world she lives in, if her intuition is presented with sufficient evidence. She’s usually very upright and solemn, rigid even, though in the company of her fellow Gyres and a sparing few others who’ve earned her trust, a playful, crafty side emerges.

Physique: Ectomorphic. She, like most Gyres, was selected in part due to her tall (approximately 8 heads high), wiry strong, yet still smooth physique- reason being they are meant to look sleek when on display for the royal court, and also fitting more easily into their aerodynamic flight armor.

Wing configuration: each "wing" has three pairs of independently mobile blades. The top blade in a pair expels force, while the bottom blade directs that force along its length and outward. When the pairs are open (as shown here), the force is directed downward rather than lengthwise, enabling a Gyre to hover.

Cedany, the Gyres, and the world they belong to are copyright of me.
