Triptych: a set of three associated artistic, literary, or musical works intended to be appreciated together.

This is an assignment for my drawing class. It's a series of three still lifes that tell a narrative about Fitzgerald's life (wow didn't see that one coming, Russian).

The first one is based on the first part of his writing career. I bought a coca cola bottle from 1923 (which is the closest I could get to the date to the publishing of his first novel) and that symbolizes his youth and innocence (lel) and that it's practically all he drank while he was on hyperdrive trying to finish the novel in order to marry Zelda.

The second one represents the cumulation of his life's work. Including all the shorts he wrote, the Beautiful and Damned, Gitzbe (inside joke with a special someone here), and Tender is the Night. It's a stack of some of biographies I own and they represent the whole of his life.

The third one represents the final months/days of his life. I have a whiskey bottle (Prohibition era, nice find) and a stack of books. They're in disarray, tipped over to show that he was an alcoholic and had a lot of problems in life.

That's it.

All are made with charcoal on 24 x 18 inch white paper. Time taken: about 2 hours each, total of 6.
