I think I know which picture you're talking about... it's a famous one too. Hmm. For the life of me I cannot remember it's title.
Anyway, look at this. I can see this being the starting sketch for a painting. I really like this because while they are just standing there you can tell that horse and rider were moving or are just about to move. It's a sketch frozen in time. Indecisive. To move forward or not. This says a lot and I'm not going to gripe about the anatomy of that horse-behind because that is not the point of this. It's about the moment.
I really, really, really like this.
