Description Work for Fadalgia Card Game.

I recieve a concept "Lone Druid" in forest.I don't know what "Druid" is so I did a research before I sketch it.Druid is priest with rod that make of tree root and leaf tiara and they live in a forest.

They brough me an idea "Priest of Nature" as you can see at a shape of leaf at her cloak,a shape of tree root at her skirt,a climber pattern at her cloth,a feather,a flower tiara and a rod that I got idea form real tree root rod.

I plan to paint in green earth tone at first but I'm bored,Is nature thing must be only that earthtone? So I decide to use a tone of contrast autumn in my style.

After Fadalgia had develop their illustrators working system,I felt it was very better than before.

When I type it I just notice I had been working with them for 3 years since I was a newbie high school student. Now I'm nearly to go to university and will graduate in this February.Three years may not a long time for someone but for me it's the most longest time I had ever work for any card game before.

They're the first who ask me to draw for them. They bring me to an illustration world.

druids are ancient pre christian religious leaders of britain & some parts of europe. i'm so glad yours is a girl: so many people forget that women were druids too!

She's stunningly beautiful and I love the look on her face, and the way the colours bring to mind leaves in autumn.

However, she's really nothing like a druid. More like a priestess of an order devoted to the sun.

druids are pagan priests they wouldn't have a cross and would be dressed in a plet of some kind

One wonder in a fantasy world, would the cross take another meaning all together...

Kinda like a celtic christianity early priestres, oddly. In a different, altermate history. ehehe.

i just don't like the idea of someone who worships nature useing smelted gold, rather then sticks and rock like they really would

In older D&D editions, I remember that Druids - who was originaly a sort of special priest, touched by nature - could not use an armor made of a transformed material like steel idneed. Justification was I think that it was not natural anymore a 'shell', and so was 'jamming' in a way your connection to nature.

Then, if one go by real world, actual Druids, it was more like common priestly role of the celtic religion(?). Little was known on celts...

druids were leaders, their word was law, and pride of place in celtic clans was by the hunt, you would wear your greatest kill. Celts never really used metal unless they'd traded or stolen it from the vikings. Celts went to battle naked whats more, so armour is something they'd bother with, but in a game like D&D I guess they had to give them something. and little was known on celts about 60 years ago, back when witchcraft was still illegal in most parts of the world, now that it's not, many families that have lived that way for generation have come forward. I should know I live in one such family.

Celts USED metal. They used steel, from what I know, and may have been actually been the ones bringing the Iron Age to northern part of europes (well, above mediteranean)... The forge was a part of their myths - Dagda or something in.. ireland, i think, by example. They are known for finely crafted, wrought iron, silver, gold and such.

Eh well, beware the tales of witchcraft and all, lot of foolish things had been said around. like the Church's supposed uberdark witch hunts, when actually, the message was to discontruct and present witchcraft as a myth.

celts didn't use metal until well into the dark ages, then the wyths adapted. and Dagda is a scotish god

I doubt that, and by 'dark ages', you means which? Greek dark ages era, after the fall of Mycenian civilisation?

Because we say things like that, who are actualy disproven... Like how they keep saying natives american peoples - ALL - didnt know the use of metal.

Forgery, as we do it, maybe not; but 'cold working' of metals, peoples like Incas mastered it well.

terrordark In reply to theubbergeek2 [2011-05-23 07:07:27 +0000 UTC]

they didn't need metal until they were invaded, plz stop talking about things you dont know. I was brought up being told what is true, you can believe the BS on wiki sites all you want, just dont talk down to me like you know all.

theubbergeek2 In reply to terrordark [2011-05-23 07:59:29 +0000 UTC]

Celts would have invaded rather... they have had a warrior culture. They had war CHARRIOTS, swords, spears, shields... Indeed, nude or just pants warriors as well.

Like when Greece was raided, and celts settled in Anatolia - galateans. Or when the celts of north italia SACKED ROME. Brennus (?). Or when irish celts invaded Hibernia, finishing the Picts culture - who may have been more archaic celts or a preceltic culture, creating with time the Scotts.

Now, that beg the question, was there an united celtic "race" or even a culture... Or just some spred cultural bits.

I know my general history not too badly, and even wikipedia could be reasonably usefull, if one crosschecks with other sources. I may not be an historian by trade, but at least, I can do basic searches and critical thinking.

This is fantastic

A Druid is not just a priest/ess, a druid is the heart, the Dr, the Litigator, the mediator, the adviser to the King/Queen, the teacher and so so much more within ancient British and Gaulish(France) Celt communities, and they were systematically wiped out by the Romans though some survived the Roman holocaust. But that's in a very tiny nutshell.

Druids are so much more then what you have for your description, but your piece is quite lovely and I love how you manage to pull all the elements together with it. The use of color is quite nice as well.
