Description Made a joke once on how all the characters I draw, be it my own or those I worked with from day to day, basically lived all at the same place.

But there were a few that could not be seen, they had to stay in the shadows. A simple light and they would vanish.

That is the case with the mysterious "thing in the closet".

These were the characters from "Rise Of The Guardians", as no official images nor trailer existed.
But this is about to change...
(trailer in theater April 6th!)

that's the thing, though

if you do it just right, you can sneak into a fridge before it opens

or at least you could with the one from my childhood home

It could be done if someone gets rid of the lightbulb inside...hmmm...

Can he teleport to anything with darkness inside?

If so, it's a cinch, innit?

Of course, I'm leery of doing stuff like that, because I had a truly BROKEN freeform RP character that did that-among other things-but that's a long story I tell far too often anyway.

wait... so... I was about to make some banal little comment about how I'd been over at the studios on a tour with my illustration department a couple weeks ago and saw a bunch of the art for this movie on the walls and how cool it looks and la-dee-da... when it struck me. I was over at the LA studio touring and seeing all the art on the walls, when I could have been meeting you?! wow. sad day.
It does look pretty darn great, by the way. I'll have to tell you which was my favorite once the silence is lifted XD

Yup. guess you missed me. If you came by our hall, all decked with Christmas light, you walked right by me.
Silence to be lifted very very soon.

Hahah, that's so funny! I suppose it might have been a good thing, though. Apparently I'm horrendously allergic to the entire state of California, so I was sneezing and snuffling my way along like a plague-bearer. Kind of an embarrassing way to meet anyone you look up to XD
I've been following your art since early A:TLA, especially once you started that 'Water Tribe' comic that I've loved so much. Not creeperly, just in the hopes that some of your awesome and your humor would rub off on me somehow

Actually, we just had a bad season for allergies. I'm usually not attacked by them but this spring..eurgh!

so it's not always like that?? I was thinking I'd have to cut LA from my list of potential homes... which really cut out a lot of potential jobs...

no not always. I've been here a few years now, and this spring, for some reasons...ergh.

Well they all live your mind, thats close enough right?

Rise of the Guardians. I heard that William Joyce was involved with the story. I'll be very interested in seeing that trailer. Thanks for the heads up.

rufftoon In reply to StardustDragon [2012-03-28 15:24:22 +0000 UTC]

They live in my mind and don't pay rent. Guh.
Bill Joyce was behind the original concept. The studio worked with that while Mr.Joyce went and wrote the books.

Hi rufftoon! I got back into dA and it's so amazing to find noticed that tell me that you've added something cool! There's a poster that's been up at the movie theaters with Santa crossing his beefy, tattooed arms, but other than that I've never seen any other hints of this movie. It's so cool that you're involved with it~ I'll go watch it this fall for sure!

It's so funny how a mere fridge light made your thing vanish. Too funny of a concept!

That's pretty much all there is out there. There's one image of the character that was released way back in 2009.

Is it... invisible, or, just ran for cover when the light came on? o___o *curious*

Rise of the Guardians?

rufftoon In reply to TropicalFreckles [2012-03-28 07:12:11 +0000 UTC]

It doesn't run for cover, it's just that it can't be seen in the light...until the trailer is out.
As for "rise of the Guardians":

Ahhh. Alright.

Oh! Another Dreamworks film? Sweet! Can't wait, love Dreamworks! I miss their 2D animation, though. LOVED Prince of Egypt, Road to El Dorado, and Sinbad! ^^

rufftoon In reply to TropicalFreckles [2012-03-28 07:19:41 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I miss the era of 2D animation too. But it seems to only be flourishing in Europe and Asia these days. *sigh*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TropicalFreckles In reply to rufftoon [2012-03-28 07:26:51 +0000 UTC]

Same. I was sad when Dreamworks stopped pushing out 2D movies; their 2D animation was so beautiful (especially on Prince of Egypt--blew my MIND when I was a kid. Movies like that really got me into art.), and, seriously was a competition with Disney. Not that 3D animation isn't nice as well, I just grew up with 2D animation, and miss it so.

Yeah... only Asia and Europe. I don't think I've ever really seen that many European cartoons, though; should probably see what they have to offer.

Nocturna is a spanish film that is completed, but hard to get on North American shores.

Secret of Kells is available in the US, was made in Ireland

Longway North isn't out yet, but it is a beautiful trailer:

And this one, same company who did Nocturna, is trying to get funding to do this film:

Oh goodness, I do love Secret of Kells. Maybe making 2D less mainstream will make room for more experimentation, like that one?
