the only two reasons i've found that they think frisk is canon non-binary is:-their gender is never stated
-they are referred to as they/them
the first one if obv stupid, but the second one is just as bad honestly.
they/them isn't just used by non-binary people.
there are lots of cis people who are fine with they/them.
and no one in the game KNOWS frisks gender, so ofc they would call frisk a they.

• Nothing about Frisk is “up to the player.” That’s the entire point of the True Pacifist ending -- Frisk isn’t you, Frisk is Frisk.
• If we were supposed to choose Frisk’s pronouns, he could have easily put in a gender select screen. You’re telling me that this man, who put in an ENTIRE SUBPLOT THAT YOU CAN ONLY ACCESS BY HACKING THE GAME, doesn’t have enough technological prowess for changing the protagonist’s pronouns?
• If everyone magically knows Frisk’s name after the Asriel fight, why not their pronouns?
• Toby Fox has said NOWHERE that Frisk’s gender is up to you. N O W H E R E . Funny how you people will outright lie to get your way.
• How come when Toriel uses she/her pronouns, you identify her as a woman, and when Sans uses he/him pronouns, he’s a man, but the moment a character uses they/them pronouns, “IT’S UP TO THE PLAYER AND YOU’RE A BIG MEAN BULLY FOR SAYING OTHERWISE!!!1!!!” That’s the same as me calling Asgore a girl because it’s “just my headcanon uwuwuwu”
• Why do you even care about them being male or female, anyways? Why are you so fixated on what’s in this CANONICAL CHILD’S pants? Seems a bit suspicious, if you ask me.

• So Frisk has to stay with Toriel. So Frisk has to comfort Asriel. Yep, not up to the player at all.
• There would have to be one for both Frisk and Chara, and that defeats the purpose of the surprise. Or make Frisk's gender and pronouns the same as Chara's. Some people would be OK with that, but not all.
• Going back to Point 1, Toriel would have to know about Frisk's pre-Undertale surface living conditions as well, and would offer to live with her on the spot. Knowledge of everything about someone isn't just creepy AF, it would be more reason for monsters to go back into the hole, or worse.
Asriel had absorbed everyone's souls, and after the battle, the only thing Asriel, and by extension, the other monsters, would know about Frisk is what he was told: Frisk's name, and nothing more. Since the monsters didn't know about Frisk's name, why would they know Frisk's pronouns? They don't.
• I've seen someone mention that he once had a post on Twitter that that was the case. There were also posts about his prototype protagonist being ambiguous in gender. Of course those are gone now, so the official stance seems to be a big nope, but there's more to this. I'll get to this point later.
• Sans, Toriel, and Asgore? They have their own pasts explained in the game, and they have some of their future explained when people asked for Papyrus' favorite food. They are not blank slate characters. But Frisk is. With Frisk, very few things are outright confirmed: you can give them a backstory, and make up their own future, their own age, and their own GENDER. This argument you and so many others keep using? IT DOES NOT APPLY TO FRISK.
• Why? To shove the truth in your face, that's why, and it's time to bring up the 4th point again. Here's a webpage featuring the first edition of the Undertale artbook. It shows a page with Napstablook, and on that page, Toby refers to the ghost as male. There is also a section with Monster Kid, who is also called a boy. And then there's a post made by someone I've read and probably can't find anymore, and for all I know it's not actually true, so feel free to ignore it, but the poster sounded upset with those pronouns, meanwhile, the River Person was still called "they" in that very same edition of the artbook.
What does this mean? Even Toby has gender headcanons, and he let them slip. And this book wasn't made before the game was finished. This publication occurred over a year after Undertale's release. So, if the top dog is allowed to see his own characters in his own certain way, why can't we see Frisk as a girl, or Chara as a boy ? Guess what? We can.

frisk is one of the only nonbinary they/them protagonists that exist in media. nonbinary genders are not meant to be filled in or projected on, and doing so is nonbinary erasure
what people don't get though is that you can headcanon frisk as other nonbinary identities, like demigirl, genderfluid, bigender, etc.! you can headcanon them as afab or amab too
so if you headcanon frisk as an afab demigirl who uses they/them and she/her, it's not nonbinary erasure, and you still get everything you want out of "frisk being a girl"
"they/them doesn't automatically make someone non-binary" erases absolutely all nonbinary characters in media, and i wish more people would be nonbinary inclusive because you can still get what you want out of them being a "girl/boy" + keep them nonbinary
