'STONE FACES' ~ (The Faces of Comedy & Tragedy)16" X 20" (40.6 cm. X 50.8 cm.) Acrylic on canvas. Completed in Los Angeles, May 2007.
This is a commissioned work.
I think the most interesting aspect of the piece is the interaction of the figures, the players in this little Comedy-Tragedy.
The creatures looking on express the fleeting joys, the more constant surprise and sorrow of life, as do the masks.
I love the snake slithering up on the unattended baby birds. There's something fascinating about this for me. I've seen it happen in the outdoors before. The rats stare entranced.
The mole shares the look I have on my face.
I also think about what lives in the grass.

this as well as many other of your art is seriously messssed up! but that's not necessarily a bad thing! your stuff is visually intense and striking and memorable! in other words, amazing!

I wish I wasn't a poor University student.
If there are still prints left by the summer, I think I will probably get one. It's probably the perfect mix of theatre and the odd for me.
