I saw the thumbnail and died, this is so completely spot-on. Just perfect. XD
(Although I'll admit the pupil-less bright yellow eyes threw me for a second)

Well, wire is harder to work with and hide (at least for me) 
Thread is easier in that sense.

I have only just started using thread in things so I am still at the stage of "aaah what do I do with this stuff?" but wire does tend to be quite messy, and tends to snap a lot, although that's probably because I try to fit it though the beads too many times.

Wire doesn't like to be bent too many times, that makes it hard to work around some trickier parts.
It's irreplaceable in many situations, though
