Original Caption: 'So after seeing this , I’d figure I’d make my own to suit my own head canons over this au, since everything that I’ve seen so far haven’t made much sense to me?? Because honest to god I really needed to get this out. I’ve been obsessing over this for ddaaays. Since tumblr has already crashed already when I’ve tried to write this…. opinion under the cut.
The same way that Bill’s name is changed to Will for this au, I choose to call the main characters differently, since it’s easier to identify them like that. So Mabel is MayBelle, Dipper is Orion, Pacifica is Portia, and Gideon is Gibson. Idk, I thought they were fitting.
Here’s my problem, see. I look at fan art of this au and I see plenty of things that show complete, total parallels, like this and this , and I think, wait, why is Gideonput in the place of Dipper? Their personalities just don’t fit! If I were to change things around, then since Mabel and Gideon are such reflections of their morals, then you just switch them, right? Not Dipper and Gideon.
It also makes sense if you’re a stickler with the symbols like I am, because if you’re going FULL parallels here, with simple character differences? If the tent star goes after the shooting star like Gideon goes after Mabel, then it simply makes no sense at all. Because under the assumption that MayBelle then holds the tent star, then Portia will be the person she pursues. Unfortunately, shippers, I don’t think that works logically. Not to mention that Disney wouldn’t air that, let’s be real here.
Okay, SO. *cracks fingers* Here we go. Headcanons:
  Portia is naturally a skeptic, and is a lot more tolerating of people’s shit in this au, as she takes the place of Dipper. No longer is the prissiness you witness in the show, but is slightly carried on through the fact that she hates to get dirty, despite the fact that she loves the allure of nature and mystery.
  Gibson gets braces in this au, as he swaps lives with Mabel. Like Mabel, he goes after a hecka lot of ladies simply on impulse, and Portia is consequently dragged into it all the time, like Dipper. Even though they’re cousins (the ? is in there because I’m also open to them simply being best buddies) Gibson tends to treat Portia like a sister.
  Orion carries a lot of emotional baggage, taking the place of Pacifica in this au. He’s nicknamed this way, well, because STARS, and Orion is a much more classy name, if I do say so myself. Orion takes himself very seriously, but isn’t afraid to have a good time with his sister every once and a while despite how he finds her embarrassing.
MayBelle, or May-Belle, takes the place of Gideon and is just as crazy and manipulative as he is, if not maybe just a liiiittle bit worse. She likes to make fun of her brother for the stick up his ass, and has a gigantic, stalker-obsessed crush on Gibson and wants to marry him. Pretty much a complete parallel, except I like to think that MayBelle gives Gibson a sweater on their date.
Other things to note: Gibson loses his accent while Portia, doesn’t, she still speaks in that way, but more toned down. The Pines twins now have southern accents, as well as the rest of the Pines’ family, and they come from further southern California.
I probably left out a whole bunch, but I hope this at least portrayed a good idea of what I’ve thought of for this au!'
