HISTORY

{Chapter 1: Kithood} Briarkit had a relatively easy kithood, being one of two kits born to a pair of strong warriors. He actively partook in play fighting yet would always loose due to his gentle nature. He looked up to all of the warriors and couldn't wait to be an apprentice. Finally at six moons he became an apprentice.
{Chapter 2: Apprenticeship} Briarpaw was a devoted apprentice and worked incredibly hard to be the best he could be. He adored his mentor, Gentlelight, and always tried to impress the clan. His life was going smoothly until his sibling passed suddenly one winter. Shaken, Briarpaw continued his training, vowing that he will be a great warrior in his siblings honor. As he became a warrior he couldn't help but feel excited yet anxious for his future as a warrior.
{Chapter 3: Warriorhood} Briarberry was appointed an apprentice very early in his warriorhood, an older apprentice named Coalpaw whose previous mentor lost his life to a rabid animal attack. Unfortunately for Briarberry, Coalpaw was reluctant to listen, telling him he wasn't old enough to be a good mentor. At those words, Briarberry fell into a time of darkness and anxiety, trying desperately to train this strangely independent apprentice. One day, Coalpaw approached Briarberry, and sat quietly next to him, neither saying anything. That night, Coalpaw asked Briarberry to stop trying to act like one of the old and experienced warriors. Confused, Briarberry asked what he meant. Coalpaw revealed that he was fine with Briarberry being his mentor and looked up to him for his strength and will-power to become a mentor so young yet wanted to be treated more as an equal. Briarberry agreed, becoming close friends with Coalpaw, the two learning how to be even better warriors from each other. When Coalpaw received his warrior name, becoming Coalsky, Briarberry had the loudest yowls of congratulations, pride blooming within him. The two grew even closer, and Briarberry eventually developed romantic feelings towards the younger tom. Afraid that confessing his feelings would lead to his former apprentice abandoning him, Briarberry stayed silent. It wasn't until one day during hunting together did Coalsky stop Briarberry, asking to talk. Briarberry turned to look at Coalsky, who was behaving uncharacteristically shy, meeting his eyes with a questioning look. Coalsky admitted that he had feelings for Briarberry since he was an apprentice and would couldn't hold the feeling back anymore. Overjoyed that Coalsky felt the same way, Briarberry told him he felt the same way, later becoming mates. Everything was going well until a skirmish with one of the neighboring clans. During the skirmish, as Briarberry struggled to fight off his attackers he called out for Coalsky's help. Coalsky said nothing, meeting his eyes with an emotionless gaze and ran off, abandoning him and the clan. Now, Briarberry is trying to get over this loss and fears ever taking an apprentice on the off-chance that they will turn out just like Coalsky.
