hi, ur pictures are beautiful. i am trying to get into IR photography but i am inexperienced. is it true that canon does take good IR pictures? i was thinking of getting the canon G9, this is not an DLSR and it is canon. how much do you think this would affect my pictures?

I think the G9 is suppose to be good for IR, but since it's new... I would rather see photos other users uploaded and then decide.
the canon DSLR cameras aren't good for IR.

I do love photoshop, but I think I need to spend a little more time learning new things. (Its actually one of my new years resolutions!)
Do you use a polarising filter at the same time as your infrared? I do have a circular polariser but to be honest havent used it as much as I should. Ive used my IR filter a few times but still need some practise as Im not getting the quality of results Id like. Im not sure wether its a camera thing, or wether Ive picked the wrong days so far weather / conditions wise.

I don't use polarizer with IR filter since the IR is also polarizing. but I do use sometimes ND8 filter with the IR.
you sould pick good weather and conditions. what camera do you use?

Ah thats interesting that you use an ND filter with your infrared filter.
I use a canon EOS 300D which I read was awful/didnt work for infrared but I updated the firmware on the camera which gave it 20D features and it works. Ive got a Hoya R72 infared filter. Its very cold and a bit windy here at the moment and not too bright usually so I wasnt sure if the conditions very good at all. Is an ideal day a calm and very sunny day?

well... first of all, the 300D isn't a good IR camera because of its sensor and IR blocking filter (the firmware doesn't matter)
the conditions should be sunny day with warm weather and some white clouds.

Infrared makes for such spectacular images... This is great! How do you have to adjust f-stops and exposure to shoot infrared?

well I use M mode and set it according to the light meter and add +2/3 and correct accordingly.
Thanks
