I've had an odd assortment of prismacolor markers for the past 5 years or so that I never really got around to using (they were cast offs from an internship). Well, after dithering around for the last couple of days before my new job starts, I decided I'd break 'em out and give them a proper try-out.
So, I drew this up.
A couple of notes:
!. For one, my ink didn't hold up nearly as well as I thought it would. I guess the markers are supposed to go over light pencils, with inks afterwards? So there was some smearing in the areas of thicker ink application (mostly the stripes). Also should have recopied the pencils onto a clean sheet of paper once I'd gotten the sketch cleaned up; there were some lines that I couldn't fully erase. Cleaned everything up as best I could in the computer, so it seems to be working out...
2. The assortment of colors I had was decent, but not complete; it was particularly lacking in paler colors (again: free stuff, I'm not gonna complain), so my shading ended up being a bit less gradual in places than I'd have liked. I'm still not sure I was using the blending marker correctly.
3. This design is largely cribbed from another picture I've seen floating about the internet (tiger guy, blue and gold clothes, sword?), but I can't find it (otherwise, I'd link it). I probably have a copy somewhere in my reference files....ah well.
4.If I ever get to play in another game of D&D (instead of running it) I might give this guy a go. Could be fun being a tiger man. Like a Thundercat, only better; maybe with a sort of Indo-China vibe. Or desert-dwelling, that would be cool....
