Description
One of the famous old buildings that I saw on my only visit to Seoul was Dongdaemun (official name Heunginjimun), which was built in 1369 under King Taejo of the Joseon Dynasty as the eastern gate of the city walls. It has been renovated at least twice, in 1453 and 1869, and fortunately was left standing during the Japanese occupation unlike other Korean architecture. Taking a good picture from the other side of the street was a challenge due to all the traffic on the boulevard, but I saw more from a distance than up close.
