This is an old pic, but my big sister's been bugging me to put it up for ages, and I've been going through a bit of a Chrono Trigger phase, so I figured it was about time I posted this.This is pretty much my impression of Chrono facing off against Lavos. It's kinda interesting; in the movie sequence added in the newer playstation version, Chrono seems conpletely startled by the glowing light, and looks like he hasn't a clue what's going on.
In the game itself however, you only see Chrono's back during the scene, so for a very long time I had the idea that Chrono... really knew what he was doing. I guess this picture shows what I thought Chrono would have felt...
Well... it's one of those things you can decide for yourself. ^_^;;

I remember watching my brother play that and when he died we were all so sad (We were young and adored the game) but he was determined to save him and defeat Lavos :3

There's probably a world of fanfic out there trying to answer the question of WTF happened there. It's implied sorta that the glowing light is Marle's pendant... but then later the pendant reacts to the Chrono Trigger and all that other... gah, my head hurts just trying to puzzle it out.
I personally suspect he had fully accepted that his life was forfeit when he was the only one standing and he tried to stop Lavos and Zeal; that whole last act of utter desperation and stuff because if he didn't do ANYTHING, they were all screwed. I don't think he expected... whatever the hell happened next involving the pendant.

Wow. Love the coloring anf the lighting. His expersion is much like how I imagined it to be. except with a lil surprise. You don't usually see a ball of light when you die so yeah. But it is great! Brava!

Actually it's a game, not an anime. Chrono Trigger's one of the old classics... It's a Super Nintendo rpg (though it's had a playstation release too, with fmvs) with character designs by Akira Toriyama. If you want to play it, then it's probably best to look for a rom & emulator online, cartridges are very hard to find these days and the PS version runs too slowly.

Great work! I think Chrono would know what he was doing. I mean, you wouldn't accidentally give up your life... Plus in that movie sequence, the way he held the sword kinda looked like he was determined to do something. XD

I guess mizzyvon doesn't realize that Akira Totiyama did the Character designs for Chrono Trigger (Best RPG of all time!), thats why Chrono has DBZ style eyes.

I had the idea that the light that Chrono is seeing as he's vaporised is the light in the sky when the rest of the party brings him back. For him, there's no space between those two moments in time.
