How do you get the texture to show through like that?! I keep trying different things but I'm kind of clueless when it comes to things like this

In your Texture layer make it from "normal" to "luminosity" and then play with the opacity until you'll find the best result
This is my tecnique with Photoshop ^^ hope it helped!
