I like the first half, it looks cool.
When the black background flashes start, I donβt get whatβs happening anymore.

That was intentional. When the black flashes, the stick suddenly moves faster and dashes from offscreen. You're not supposed to see anything besides the enemy getting slashed out of nowhere. Final white slash is just there to look cool as a finisher.

Is there a reason for the whole background to flash? I mean, does it represent something?

To emphasize the speed and the sudden nature of the slash, wouldn't feel as impactful without it.Β

Yeah starting to get the hang of this kind of stuff. I've wanted to add this kind of flashy effects before but didn't really know what to do lol.
