Description
Departments of the Zootopia (Park 26) Support System
Downtown Hub*
* Many departments also operate in semi-independant outposts under other sectors of the park
Executive: Manages the park as a whole, and implements long term initiatives from the central managment of the company. Located in the upper floors of the Hub, this department tends to receive the most comfortable living and working areas.
Hospitality: Responsible for all aspects of the guest experience before entering the park proper. This includes the monorail systems and any guest areas (such as hotels and public areas) under the park.
Control: Responsible for maintaining the safety of the guests while inside the park, while also monitoring the general behavior of the mammals, and ensuring any deviant behavior is rectified.
Narrative: Takes the concepts from the creative teams (located in offices outside the park), and further develops them into workable systems of interactions and storylines. Individual characters as well as bulk "background" characters are physically designed here.
Behavior: The next step after Narrative. Behavior technicians write the actual code used in the characters in the park. Though pre-existing templates and intuitive design systems speed this process, this department still has the largest number of employees.
Manufacturing: Takes up the second most floorspace in the Hub, after warehousing. Constructs mammal bodies to near microscopic levels using a standard set of materials. Manufacturing is mostly automated, especially for small mammals. Technicians are mostly responsible for monitoring the assembly lines and fixing any hangups.
Props: This department constructs any objects or devices present in the park up to and including vehicles. This includes furniture, clothes, tools, and weapons. Due to advances in additive manufacturing, this process is almost completely automated.
Livestock Management: Responsible for the maintainance and repair of all mammals in the park. Deals with malfunctions or physical damage, sometimes from the guests. Routine checkups performed here are fully automated. More advanced diagnostic procedures are performed by staff.
Warehousing: Storage of backup mammals, replacement props, and reserve building materials. Takes up most of the lower levels of the Hub. Temperature controled and robot tended.
Construction: Builds and maintains any structures within the park proper. Though the design process is mostly manual, networked drones do most of the actual building. Interestingly, some brand new structures are artificially aged to add to authenticity.
Facility Upkeep: Similar to construction, in that it mostly uses drones, but focused on the cleaning and physical stability of the Hub and other service areas. As some of these areas are nearly a kilometer underground, structural integrity is of high importance.
Data Storage: Maintains software backups of all the mammal programming, as well as the design specifications. Uses dozens of powerful optical supercomputers, and takes a significant portion of the entire park's power input.
Power generation: The park is so large and relatively advanced that it maintains its own fusion power plant. This plant, with a containment vessel the size of several city blocks, requires it's own dedicated engineers, whose job is similar to that of fusion plant operators around the world.
Human Resources: Similar to HR in any other business venture, it deals with issues of hiring and terminating staff, as well as dealing with any complaints. As some staff will stay in the park for up to six month assignments, HR also has a hand in keeping off duty employees fed and housed within the dormintory areas.
Prototyping and Testing: In some ways a subdivision of Narrative, the testing groups run limited simulations of park story-lines, mostly within a virtual environment on its dedicated supercomputers. The majority of mammals are tested here more than once.
Quality Assurance: Essentially HR for guests, in that they deal with any complaints or suggestions from the visitors to the park. They also contain the parks ethics commitee, and safety advisory board.
