The detail in this is pretty fantastic. Just, wow. I can see pretty much every wood chip on the tree trunk and every little bit of fur along her cloak. It's also rather creepy, seeing her just jut out of the tree like that. And having those tree branches with the thick pine needles coming out of her fingers and arms is morbidly beautiful. The shading in the background is really nice. Makes the forest look dark, ominous, and maybe full of more creatures like this one? Having it fade out of sight in the darkness was pretty brilliant. Really keeps up with the style and tone that at least I've made for it in my head.
I would've appreciated a little bit more shading on her in particular. There's not a lot of depth to her, aside from under her chin and her left bicep. Her right arm, for instance, seems like it should be covered with a bit more shadow, not only it being a bit father in the background, but also because of the tree branches in front of it. Her bosom also seems to have pretty much no shading around it. Not that they need to be super detailed and have a really dark shading, but with the way her breasts press against the bark of the tree, there would be a small shadow behind them. I also feel like perhaps her ear a little too far down her jawline?
The textures all throughout really bring this piece to life. It adds a lot to the mood and overall style, as well as making the whole thing look all the more striking and creepy. Really great work on the snow, too. I also like how the face turned out -- the proportions are all there and well established. This whole piece looks awesome! Wonderful job!

You are absolutely right about the contrast of the shading: it is always a problem if you start with shading a character and then put them on a high contrast background.(
Btw, her ears are covered with pine cones in her hair, so there is no ear O_O

I am privileged to give constructive comments on your artwork.
One of my first impressions of this image was imagining myself lost in the woods and this lovely lady popped out and lent me a helping hand. I thought it was a magical experience and if she were to be real, I would absolutely be honored to meet her in person.
I love how the contrast goes within the picture but it was a bit difficult for me to picture out the entire image at first glance. I literally said, "What is this?" and figuring out the image a few seconds later.
I forgot what that tree is called (lol) but the leaves on upper portion aren't quite shaded (Apologies for my interpretation if I were mistaken.) Well, I figured if the light doesn't quite shine on those areas, I thought I should make them a bit darker. Also, the background of the leaves on the lower portion should be a bit darker, I guess, just to highlight the leaves.
Overall, I like the general composition of the image. I really wish she's real and we could talk about stuff and such. But that's just me and my fantasies. XD Great artwork!

I've tried to draw some kind of a pine tree. I thought of making the needles on the upper part on the tree light against the 'negative' of the night sky and on the lower part 'positive' - dark - against the white snow. Although I do agree that the light is quite artificial on this image.

Now this seems like a mastery of the sketch style. The woman in the tree looks very well detailed and personally appears rather possessed due to the whites in her eyes. The pose she is in makes her appear as if she trying to blend in or hide from others. Also, the dress or corset she is wearing that is also merging with the tree itself looks perfect as well as the snow on her branches. As the for the tree, it also looks very well detailed and the bark on it with a few of its skin peeled off is a very nice touch. Overall, this picture looks amazing and very well detailed, hard considering that sketching would require a lot of erasing. Also, due to this being started a while back, it shows how far you've come as an artist. Great job.
