It's got to be really hard to work with parts that small, also I was wondering if you could tell me where I could find parts like that..? like the gears and what not, I get the other bits would come from older clocks and things, but I'm not sure...

I usually buy my parts on eBay, believe it or not. There are some sellers who sell all the parts in a tin, which will get you lots of teeny gears and bits at a good price. Then I also buy individual pocket watches (broken, being sold for parts- it would break my heart to dismantle an actual WORKING antique watch) and take them apart for pieces.
What are you looking to make? It's not so hard for me to make things with such small parts, as I'm used to it, but I imagine that as I get older, it'll become more difficult.

Ahhhhh, Well I'm not looking to MAKE anything, but Modify something that already exists.. My bass Guitar, but as I said, I was having trouble finding all the right parts, as I know I would need BIGGER gears and parts than I could get of an old pocket watch. I could never destroy a working one either, They are to... amazing..? I think thats the est word to describe them... but no, I need gears off sizes from 5mm to 7-10cm.. For as cheap as I can..

Well for larger gears, you can always hunt down the old brass alarm clocks, there's loads of gears in there, and many are bigger! Bonus is, you can get them for CHEAP, then take it apart yourself.

Thank you! I use a brass cufflink base, and use antique watch parts for the rest (most of the watches are circa 1920s). These particular cufflinks are each made with 2 gears, a cog, a screw and one brass balance cock (yes, strange name, but that's what they call it!). I have many more parts, I can make another pair if you're interested!
