Oh dear, this is horrible. A great capture, but it's oh-so sad .
You know, I live in rural Tasmania, Australia and the largest city I've ever been to is Tasmania's capital, Hobart. Hobart is really, when you think about it, only very small. On the rare occasions when I travel there, I'm always captivated by the diverse range of people. But Hobart doesn't have any beggars or homeless people that live on the streets, and so, if I saw this man which you photographed, I would be stunned out of my mind. Because I'm from a remote country town (some would say 'backward' ) I really have no idea of this lifestyle that you bring forward in your photos. So, I'd like to say thankyou for recognising these helpless beings and showing them to the world, because it sends thoughts flying.
One day I'm going to travel somewhere where I can see a city skyline with bright neon lights and a host of people from all walks of life.
Good luck Meredith, there's a whole lot of good people in the world and you're definitely one fo them.

wow, thanks for such a thoughtful comment. that is really interesting! really! if you would like to come see philadelphia one day, i would be happy to host you! (that is, if i'm still around this area.) i'm so glad that i could open your eyes to this, even though it's really sad, but many people treat them as if they don't exist, and it's just a really, really sad thing. this was, of course, taken in prague, where homeless life doesn't seem to be as bad as it is in philadelphia. there are some really sad cases here.
thanks so much, rachel. i really appreciate you.

I would love to come see Philadelphia one day! And, if you were still around, I'm sure you'd be a very interesting host! Actually I'd love to see a lot of places, because you never know what you might just find. Poverty is very saddening and I guess, as individuals, we can't do a whole lot to improve it. But that's not to say we should ignore it, like so many people do because it doesn't affect them as they live in a comfort zone. Someone can't do something for everyone, but someone can do something for someone. And if we all did one thing for another, the world would be of higher equality.
Thankyou so much for replying so insightfully, and, you are very very very very welcome!
