Description In the vast plains of the south eastern deserts, a small mob of kangaroos forage for food and are accompanied by the largest kangaroo in history, a Procoptodon. Procoptodon stood out among its relatives due to its extraordinary size. It’s one of the largest marsupials that ever existed, measuring around 6.6 feet (2 meters) tall and weighing up to 500 pounds (230 kilograms). One of its most distinguishing features was its short, robust face, which gave it its name. It had long, strong hind legs specialized for hopping and powerful forelimbs that it used for balance and support. While on the search for food, the Procoptodon senses something amiss, like he’s being watched…so on instinct he rises up his hind legs to try and get a better view of his surroundings, unaware that the threat is right behind him and the hunter is a Thylacoleo. Thylacoleo was a remarkable predator and one of the largest carnivorous marsupials around. It had a robust build, with a stocky body and powerful limbs. One of its most distinctive features was its large, retractable claws on its forelimbs, which were likely used for climbing, gripping prey, and even slashing its victims. Thylacoleo had a unique dental structure, with large, sharp incisors and premolars specialized for cutting through flesh. This marsupial lion was an ambush predator, capable of leaping down on unsuspecting prey from trees or rocky outcrops. It likely targeted a variety of animals, including large herbivorous marsupials like kangaroos and wallabies. Thylacoleo was an apex predator in its ecosystem, filling a niche similar to that of big cats in other parts of the world. This marsupial lion had been stalking the the group for a while now and decided it was time to strike, kangaroos have incredible hearing so it had to move as silently as possible until one of them was in striking range, which in this case was the Procoptodon. If the Thylacoleo manages to bite the back of the Procoptodons head, it’ll be able to crush its skull and have meal that will last for a long while.
