Description Ok yes I don't pretend to be amazingly good at this or anything because I'm not so this is probably a stupid complicated way that can easily be shortcutted but my friend asked me how I coloured on the Gimp and I started to explain... a few seconds later and she was already lost so... this is what happened...
I sorta liked it so I've decided (after a lot of thinking and many cups of coffee) to put it up. But not just because I liked it but Ive found there isn't that many Gimp tutorials about colouring and for a gimp user (Like myself) that can be quite annoying!

Anyway this is how I colour on the gimp but if there's a quicker way then, by all means I would love to hear it!

I usually just go to color balance and adjust my black and whtie pics there. Is it better or any different to the 'adjust color level' mode as you suggested? thanks for the tutorial.

Um, I guess there isn't much difference. I suppose it's about the amount of control you want really, it's only really to make the grey of the pencil become more black so using the levels like I have is just adjusting the contrast really, but with more control over just how much contrast. If that makes sense.

seppyb [2010-05-21 19:34:23 +0000 UTC]

dude nice tutorial...one question
when colouring why do you have to change it to multiply??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RevanREK In reply to seppyb [2010-05-29 12:18:09 +0000 UTC]

Because that way it doesn't show if you go over the top of your old lines! But you don't have to do it that way if you don't want to, everyone has their preferred way of working! and thank you!

seppyb In reply to RevanREK [2010-05-29 19:16:06 +0000 UTC]
