Ahhh, I love carousels, especially Dentzels! There's a 1912 vintage carousel not too far from me at Six Flags over Atlanta; I have many fond memories of that one.

Dentzels are my favorites, though there are horses by other makers that are much more elaborately decorated.

This is gorgeous! One of my ambitions is to own an antique carousel horse. I love carousels! We have one in a local shopping mall that doesn't have just horses, it's also got a reindeer, a giraffe, a rabbit, a kangaroo, a sea serpent, and a lion, among others. It's also a two-tier carousel. I don't know how old it is, but it's amazing.
I also remember the Windstone sculps. I worked in a gift shop that sold them. They were, and still are, awesome.

You mean the bit and reins? I don't know if, or when this horse had a bit in her mouth, there is very little wear on the mouth to indicate that kids had been tugging on reins, but she probably had leather reins at one time. There are metal brackets for stirrup straps too , but all the leather stuff rotted away, or was stolen years ago.

Oh yeah, I forgot to rave that it still has original paint too!

Yeah it was repainted, but by the Dentzel company, so it is kinda original. It still has the original paint on the bridle -which has painted flower-like decorations.

Guh...Ok...You win. You have the best toys and pets. Sigh. So cool. Although, I have to admit that I never considered owning them. I was on a bender to try carving one. Got blueprints and everything. Just never found the space in the shop to do one. Probably just a well, since I don't have a good spot to put a full sized carousel horse. I was really partial to the Parker centaurs myself....

I just saw your new muntjack skull, you win on that one! Mine is much smaller!
I love those Parker centaurs with uniforms! Really weird, I wonder what the story behind them is!

I love how they got the eye right, with the oblong iris. She is very lovely.

In pretty good shape for being a hundred years old. You collect them?

Then I used to collect them. Then they got really expensive!

I've heard those things can get pretty pricey. Anything antique, really. Once they find out that there's collectors out there, the prices go way up.
