I didn't know what I was getting into when I adopted Vinny, all I knew was this gorgeous American Pit Bull Boxer mix was on his thirteenth hour at my shelter where I work, because he was fighting all the other dogs. I knew there was something about this dog that made me think to myself 'He couldn't go down.' So I talked my dad into coming by to see him. Mind you, he was saying no, no, no the whole time. Him and my mom told me 'how many dogs have you tried to take home? Hannah doesn't allow it. She's a one dog family.' And I was thinking that too, but did it hurt to try? The moment my dad saw him, he had to have him. First, foster papers were filled out and we did a meet and greet with him and Hannah. He hadn't liked any of the dogs at the shelter and resorted to an aggressive defense when he felt cornered or scared. I was worried he would do the same with Hannah, but it was love at first sight. The two have been together ever since and hate being away from each other. Adoption papers have long since been filled out and the dog known as 'Red' has gone from a very dog aggressive animal too loving every dog he sees. His old owners were caught and taken into custody for animal cruelty(dog fighting). Vinny's son and daughter, Skipper and Pearl, were recently adopted from the shelter as well. Vinny now lives a happy healthy life where he no longer serves as a bait dog for a cruel family.

Even though he chews up everything in sight, I still love him. That's his only flaw.
