Description
Socket's prediction, as it turned out, had been a bit too on-the-nose. As ridiculous as it was, Founder couldn't help but blame it for the gathering stormclouds, as it had been Socket's insistence that they follow the strange lights, and Socket's insistence that she carry the strange stone above her head, out of the forest and eventually over a ravine. The rain pelting down was warm, too warm; it was a summer's rain and it melted the snow still clinging to their rickety fallen-tree bridge so that it ran down in rivulets, adding a trickling gurgle to the hammering of the drops and the rumbling of the thunder. Their passage was frequently hindered by Socket--now stripped of its sickly fungus and the swirling ring around its head, and no longer accompanied by its omnipresent flies--plunking down to gaze in fascinated wonder at the dancing lights.

"This was foolish," snapped Founder, and Socket rolled a shoulder in what might have been a shrug. It demurred from suggesting that anyone else saying what Founder was saying might have been mistaken for being afraid. It did not need to say it. It broadcast it with every taunting line of its body.

"But exciting," it said. "What happens next? Let's find out."

And somehow it seemed they had no real choice. The lights still insistently bobbed through the rain, an almost impatient-seeming dance as it led them onwards, onwards, over the ravine and out towards the open, where water began to rise at their heels.

Another tablet drawing done while I was out of the house! My goal this year is do more simple shapes, to pare down my art into something more minimalist. It's been a struggle, especially since I am still adjusting to tablet drawing.
