The giggling is comforting, at least until it disappears behind the closed door and you're plunged into darkness, alone with the blackness where you know the mirror is, where the last sight you'd had was your terrified face just as the mask of laughing bravery had slipped.

You clutch the edge of the sink, hard, and you squint into the blackness thinking maybe, maybe, you can make out a shape that might be your reflection and might be--well. Something else.

You don't realize how long it takes you to get the courage up until an impatient knock on the door makes you jump, makes your heart pound.

"Do it!" they yell, and so you swallow, and you lean forward and you whisper the words they've given you--
