Description  Name: Alfred

Gender: Male

Age/Era: 26

Height: 5’9” / 177cm

Tree: Asian Persimmon Tree

Apartment: Winter

Personality:

Shrewd l Manipulative | Eccentric | Self-Assured | Quick-Witted | Intuitive | Egotistical | Oblivious | Disagreeable | Facetious

Alfred’s childlike demeanor is the result of an incessantly spoiled upbringing; quick to judge and even quicker to criticize, he retains the ill mannerisms that one should expect from a well-born brat. Snobby and conceited, he hasn’t had a day of hardship; a cushy life with little obstacles has fluffed his ego up, and so he projects confidence extending into arrogance in his abilities. While he doesn't intend to be malicious purposefully, he blatantly disregards others' needs in favor of his own. Be it willful ignorance or simply being oblivious, he fails to empathize with most or to take responsibility for his actions.

Eager to learn and quick to absorb knowledge, his natural aptitude for medicine further cemented the belief that he was superior to his peers. There is little that he will not try just to find out a reaction, be it with experiments or people. Sociable and talkative, he loves engaging in discussion and participating in debates, often rambling away to an unfortunate soul on the other end of the conversation. Though few understand his unconventional methods and capricious ways of thinking, he firmly believes that true genius is never understood in his own time. He lives for research and the prospects of new knowledge. For the most part, he's out for his own enjoyment.

Dedicating himself to the sciences, he is removed from the practical concerns and emotions of daily life. Right is not so much different from wrong to him, and he sees the world from a purely individualistic standpoint.

Reason of death

The only son of two esteemed physicians, he was raised needing and wanting for little; since birth, every wish was granted with the beckon of a hand. As a child, he was exposed to medicine at an early age and was able to observe his parents’ treatment of wounded patients from time to time.  Eager to become a surgeon just like his parents, he had an early start to his medical career and took to the scalpel when he was a child. In the name of science, his first victims were the mice in the pantry, where he tore the rodents apart on the spot to study them limb from limb, tendon to tendon. Examining his subjects with endless zeal, it had become a habit by the time he was grown, though the scope of his subjects had expanded tremendously. Due to his parents’ aid in the war effort, there was no one to judge, much less reproach him for his hobbies. Few came to understand his propensity to experiment and most kept a distance. He kept only two people in mind in his life.

After his graduation at medical school, he chose to serve as an army surgeon in the war to be in closer proximity with human subjects; he was ever so curious about the limitations of the human body. Perhaps it was mere coincidence, but it was on the battlefield that he was reunited with both of his only friends - one, a fearless soldier with a loyal and protective heart, and the second, a former colleague at medical school with the stiffest of faces who had become a gunsman.

While he saved the lives of many soldiers in the eye of the public, he experimented on just as many behind closed doors. Those who were in critical condition or less fortunate often fell into his hands as the newest guinea pigs, while warfare concealed his dubious tracks. His doings were later found out by his colleague, who turned his back on him after condemning Alfred’s reckless toying of human lives.

It didn’t stop there: the last operation of his life was performed on his childhood friend, resulting in her unexpected death as a result of a failed intubation at the start of surgical procedure. While he had promised to cure her, she never woke from the table after he waited for days. Saddled with a dreadful sense of guilt, he fled the battlefield to avoid accountability.

Not too shortly after, he died of a cold after he fell into a river in the midst of escaping.

Why that specific tree?
A small tree that sits in his study at home. The persimmon represents ignorance and bitterness in an immature state, but also sweetness and wisdom after transformation. It represents Alfred’s regrets in his previous life, both conscious and unconscious.
