Description
Hey guys, its been a while since I updated the state of my worldbuilding so today I've got some new juicy lore featuring my settting, the Coelescis Star System!
OVERVIEW
The Coelescis system is a red dwarf star system located 4.2 light years away from Earth in the constellation of Centaurus. The system is a temporary visitor of the Alpha Centauri system separated by 0.2 light years from the binary pair and is expected to leave the system entirely in the distant future.
The system was officially discovered in 1915, with its planetary bodies discovered over a century later during the mid to late 2010s. The habitability of the system was first noted during the 2040s when the Kyoko Nakamura Space Telescope observed the presence of several organic chemicals in the atmosphere of the then-known planet Coelescis b, which suggested a breathable atmosphere.
During the mid to late 21st Century, the system was the target of unmanned probes launched by the Hagen-Gupta Aerospace Corporation. The first probe, the ISEV Arcadius, was the first to confirm the existence of extraterrestrial life on Coelescis b in 2085 in addition to discovering the room-temperature superconductor Primordium.
Full-scale colonization of the planet would subsequently follow with the launch of the ISEV Elysium in 2119, which established the first module of the colony Valissia Outpost.
Though initially spearheaded as a purely scientific endeavour, Coelescis b (now called Egosea) would become a lynchpin in the extrasolar mining economy. Hagen-Gupta obtained exclusive mining rights for primordium during the 2140s from the newly formed Earth government BluCom and subsequently focused the bulk of their company resources on the mining and manufacturing of primordium products.
Primordium would go on to revolutionise several key industries on Earth, mainly the transportation and automation industries which had advanced several years since its discovery. This allowed for the construction of a series of 6 ISEV spacecraft and the establishment of a permanent circuit between Earth and Ida.
By the mid-22nd Century, Coelescis had become one of the most valuable extra-terrestrial colonies within reach of humanity. The study of its native flora and fauna had yielded much in the way of advancement in the medical industry and expanded humanity’s outlook on the universe. Primordium, while lucrative, also made humanity aware of the presence of other potential alien civilizations given the discovery of its artificial nature.
As of 2164, the system is under the administration of the Coelescis Transit Authority, an independently owned organization funded jointly by the Hagen-Gupta Conglomerate and the Blue Commonwealth of Earth.
